A new live-action/CGI retelling of The Jungle Book from Disney. Directed by Jon Favreau. Release Date: October 9, 2015.

Neel Sethi will be playing Mowgli. And the voice cast includes Bill Murray as Baloo, Idris Elba cast as Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa and Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha.

WB is also planning a live action Jungle Book film, to be directed by Andy Serkis and will be released in Oct 2017.

Generally, I like Favreau, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not digging a lot of the casting. Johansson as Kaa is lousy. I truly like her as an actor, but Tom Hiddleston would have been a perfect fit. Personal peeves, I'm sure it all will be fine.

Heard quite a bit from people attending D23 that this trailer was good and idd it was but 1 thing that isnt good for me is scarlet voicing kaa. I already had my doubts at the announcment but now hearing it in the trailer it just confirms it for me :(

Except for the kid playing Mowgli, everything else in The Jungle Book is CGI including all the creatures and environments.

Stunning realism. Some of the locations especially the jungle scenes looks so real.

I previously expressed doubt with Johansson's casting, and now that I've heard her narration it's even worse than imagined. I generally like her but she's completely wrong for this. A shame.

After seeing Walken as Capt. Hook on that Peter Pan live play on ABC some time ago, I hope with all my heart he sings "I Want to be like You".

That trailer didn't do anything for me.
It felt like just another cgi-laden action movie without any of the heart of the original animated feature. Oh sure, it tried to pull at your nostalgia strings with the "trust in me" quote and the whistling at the end, but the rest was a total non-starter for me. If the next trailer looks better I may give it a shot, but so far only big MEH from me.

I don't suppose this is a musical version :lol

Let's see how it does as a stand-alone movie.

I'll probably buy the DVD eventually, but won't go to see it at the cinema.

Looks like another overly produced CGI movie and sadly I bet it'll do as well as John Carter did, it's only saving grace is that parents and grandparents will remember the cartoon one and take the kids to see this one hoping it's just as good. Honestly they probably would have been better off doing it live action/animated like Roger Rabbit but Disney's lost it's soul to CGI.

Pass... One of my favorite Disney movies. You can't recreate the Magic & cast the cartoon had. Scarlet Jodogson pushed me over edge. While I like Bill & walker in other things. They will never be baloo & king Louie.

I don't know what the fuss is all about. This looks to me like a combination of the 1967 Disney version and the original 1942 movie.

If so, then I'm all over it, as I love both versions.

Because people here like nothing more than to poo poo anytime there's a new version of something they love. Add to that, the fact that it makes heavy use of CG means this is very ripe for griping and bitching by members of the forum here, if there's something people here love complaining more about here than remakes, reboots, and sequels it's the usage of CG and how all CG sucks and the worst practical 1930s Flash Gordon effects is better than the best, most advanced CG.

This may be the movie that changes the majority opinion of modern CGI...

I mean, people are still going to hate on every movie announced... But how can anyone deny how awesome this trailer looked.

I honestly could have sworn the backgrounds were real...

I'll give it a chance.

I agree about Scar-Jo's voice decision though. They should have went with voice actors instead of big Hollywood names to put on the poster and imdb...
