The Hunchback of Notre Dame Polar Lights model kit - Finished

[MAKE BELIEVE]

Apart from other cinema adaptations, tv movies, animated series and musicals, Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel most famous adaptations are the 1923 silent version staring Lon Chaney, the 1939 featuring Charles Laughton and the 1956 with Anthony Quinn.

I’ll try to give this Polar Lights 1:8 scale kit, the Lon Chaney look.
In order to do that, some changes on the kit must be done:

1- the round wooden base must be replaced with a stone like one
2- chains instead of ropes
3- chains on the wrists and waist only (not on the neck)
4- long hair and not short

Nice work so far. I like your judicious use of "blood" on the whip marks on his back--I've seen some of these built up where the modeler turned it into a real gore fest.

It's interesting how making a modification as relatively simple as changing the hair increases the likeness to Lon Chaney's Quasimodo so drastically. Nice work!

Model finished. As with all movie related model kits, had a great time doing it.
Have seen the film a long time ago but built the kit only based on photos. After the model pics taken I decided to watch the movie again, "only to notice" there are chains on the waist as well :angry (yes, I know - shoul have watched it first); so the "iron belt" will be replaced by chains...
This will be my small and humble tribute to one of the most (if not the most) complete (and sometimes forgoten) actors Hollywood has ever seen: Lon Chaney
