The Prop Stop

Sr Member
SPECIES 3 SCREEN USED & MATCHED ANIMATRONIC HERO ALIEN SIL PUPPET W/ ALL 4 TENTACLES & CONTROLLERS

Ive been following these for quite some time and I really feel sorry for bringing attention to this gentleman but saying such things in the public forum of Icollector and the internet is just...well....rude.

and I quote....

You could send this to the notoriously outlandishly expensive, and indelibly arrogant TSD, but based on the absolutely insane quote of $2,500.00 [plus scanning, prototyping, and shipping fees] he wanted to replace an arm on my Good Guys doll, you best be prepared to bend over, and spread em!

Then, after he has milked you into submission, charging you far more than the prop will ever be worth, he will use the before, during, and after photos of your property to shamelessly promote himself, when he is well known to do very little of the actual work. Forget about him giving a single word of credit to any well deserving collector.

If he had an ounce of actual talent, he would be "designing" props, [Pun Intended] for films here in Hollywood, not taping up the Trash in New York. LOL!

What say you internet.

Damn dog, dude going for the juggler. Doesn't seem he has much class to be bashing on auction thread while trying to sell.

Thanks for the heads up.

Seems he's removed his "review" (which is an odd way to term it, considering we've never done a project with him). He did request a project quote once, I quoted him less than an LA fx shop might charge for the work, he asked if I was interested in advertising with him and I politely declined.

He then emailed us a few times insulting my clients and friends and I just told him I wasn't interested in that sort of thing.

Regardless, for the curious who've read the above - we always ask every client if they want to share their photos or not (and we generally only share about half the work we actually do, as many of our clients prefer their props remain private). We also ask if they'd like their name used or not and most opt to remain anonymous.

Professional courtesy, at all times, of course.

Tom

Pffffttt... Tom is not nearly as special as you think, Mark. We get a love letter from David about once every couple of months pronouncing our doom. Here was one from today:

Subject: THE WAR PATH!

Mr Andrews

I have asked you nicely and repeatedly to remove the slander against me and my company from your site for a year now.
You not only refuse to, but you refuse to even respond.
I guess you have not heard, but I now own Horrorbid.com! Don't kid yourself into thinking that your sorry ass is untouchable! I am fully capable of not only bringing your website to its knees, but having you thrown in jail for fraud and piracy! All I need to do is start informing the right people that you exist.
I demand that you remove any and all mention of me on your site, and post a home page apology for the same amount of time that this has been up.
OR ELSE!

David Brandon

The best part is, he ends his emails by promoting his site and upcoming auction...

I quite agree – incredibly rude. Someone once referred to me as a "hater" on another forum without knowing anything about me or what I stand for. Those that know Tom or are familiar with HD's way of doing business recognize this for what it is – empty, stupid chest thumping.

I love – "OR ELSE!"

Art, that you so much for sharing that. I couldn't have asked for anything else to start the week in a more hilarious way.

It's stuff like that that reassures me I'm still sane :lol

Glory be to the Womb!

The Womb from whose loins all props began!

As it was in the beginning

So it shall be in the end!

Womb without end.

Glory be to the Womb!

Wow just seeing his way of doing things makes me want to stay away from anything involving that guy. Too bad he can't be hit for slander or something.

Hey....everyone's entitled to have a bad day....er....week?.....year, maybe,aw give the guy a break, maybe he was born an Aries like my ex wife. It wasn't her fault either. She was born that way........spent her whole life making mine miserable. Everyone needs a reason to keep on living. I just walked away from being hers. Ha!:p

Hey, I'm an Aries!

I had a good exchange of emails with David today. It was the first time that had ever happened. Glad to say it was civil and informative.
My "Womb Prayer" was meant as good nature humor, built upon a phrase in a note he posted many years ago I thought funny and I think he agrees.
I am certainly not endorsing his attack on Tom or whatever else he chooses to do in his business - just saying we had a nice conversation.

I think he responds this way to anyone that he feels tries to charge too much money for something. He's only pissed he couldn't afford Tom's services, and decided to be a jerk about it (his usual MO).

If he wants to buy something from you, and you offer it for $100, he's your best friend. If you tell him you think it's worth $10,000, suddenly you are the scum of the earth and he will make a YouTube video telling everyone such... Likewise if you try to offer him something less than 6 figures for a Chucky doll (which, in his mind, is the single greatest horror prop ever made in the history of humans)...

He's easy going when he gets his way, but he just snaps when he doesn't... There's no middle ground it seems.

Anyone who has been on this forum for more than a week wouldn't believe that about Tom and his team...

He always gives credit to the owners, original prop designer/shop, and to the specific members of his team that do the work.

He is one of the most humble guys with the most actual prowess at the same time. His work is the best out there in this field. PERIOD.

And he is a great guy to talk to.

I'm kinda pissed actually...

And Art... WOW dude... WOW...

This guy is a DB-classic.
