The First Prop you ever made.

I just recently ran across this, I had actually forgotten that I even made it. Now looking back I feel proud and embarrassed at the same time. I'd love to see pictures of other peoples firsts as well, so please post pictures if you can.

I sculpted the hole thing in clay and made a one piece mold you can see here http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=55984

I did this like 7 or 8 years ago and I've learned so much scents then but it's always fun to look back.

If you have a thread about your first please post a link.

What was the first thing you made more than one of, or custom that you got payed for. Yeah maybe we should make it the first prop you made money off.

On second though, I just want to see pictures. No rules just the first prop you still have pictures of.

Mrnotwrong, that is very impressive. I'd be proud if i could make something like that.:thumbsup I haven't attempted to make anything of my own, maybe one day.

Oh thank you I made a bunch of them and everyone that got one really liked it. Knowing now how far off I was is what really bothers me about the piece. Also at the time I didn't have experience with resin and I didn't have a roto caster (still don't). I cast them in Presto Patch witch made them very inexpensive to produce. There is a really great book if you are interested in this type of thing. I think it was called The Prop Makers Hand Book. It's real old and kind of old school but I think it's the coolest book I've ever picked up. I'll see if I can find my copy and I'll post a picture.

Oh am I the tenth poster again ?

I made a Logan's Run Sandman gun out of clay when I was eight. No pics unfortunately, that was way before digital.

Technically, my first prop I ever made myself was a replica F-187 Fusion cutter from the battleFront 2 game to acompany me in my "Death star Engineer/indepedant contractor costume"

But my very first prop I owned was a BKBT jango fett helmet kit which I put together

I would say this is my first prop based on something. Its a Brute Spiker from Halo 3. It is a one of a kind that I sold on ebay. I wa playing the game one day and though, I can make one so I did. Now I'm hooked into props. It was made out of mdf, plastic tubing, styrene and other junk. After that one I created a version 2 thats blows that one away, maybe I will put up a thread on that one.

Growing up, I made TONS of stuff out of wood, clay, PVC, etc. Tons of lightsabers, phaser, blasters. Then I discovered this place and learned the word "prop" and this was the first real prop that I put together.

a darth vader lid from black card and duct tape
it was awful but i was young and it was a great feeling to make it
:)

When I first started building my Vader in '04, I went with the scratch-build-from-anything-I-could-find method. In fact, the Aurebesh under the coin slots reads "Home Made Vader". I didn't know what the RPF or 501st were back then. Looked great at the time, now I know better. Still, not an entirely bad effort. I still keep it for posterity.

Really? That puts some machined sabers to shame! What's the forward grip made of?

My first "props" would have to be either a lightsaber out of a flashlight or wooden PKD. Neither was even remotely accurate, and unfortunately (thankfully?) there are no pictures.
