The DeLorean - Back to the Future II

I managed to get one via eBay for much less than ModelZone or Forbidden Planet were selling them for, even after postage. It's nice enough, but it could fall between camps as it's a bit expensive for a toy and not really high quality enough for a serious collector. Try and get a close look at one before paying full retail price, see what you think when you see it in the flesh.

The idea of figures sounds interesting, someone going to do a custom Doc or Marty?

I've got the Part I version... its a cool toy. Seems like a good candidate for some upgrades... I was thinking RC myself.

Wayne's right... you can get them a lot cheaper. The Sunstar 1/18 versions are much nicer and cheaper now too. I kept finding deals on those while looking for this new release.

These cars are nice but you have to keep in mind they are toys. Build quality is quite average and scale doesn't fit in with other lines.

Lights and sounds are really well done and kinda cool, but the car lacks detailing (no DMC logos, dull paint...)

I'd say it's an amazing toy for a kid or a good base for a custom work, but more serious collectors will prefer the SunStar versions.

I got one for Christmas and I love it. It's cool because it's higher quality but not its not so expensive you have to have it put up out of reach. So you can leave it out, like on your desk, for people to admire. Everyone that sees it loves it too.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great replica of the De Lorean, and given how big and sturdy it is you can enjoy it with no fear of breaking something.

The lights are bright and well implemented, the tires are rubber, doors open, and it makes a lot of cool noises.

Now if only there was a decent line of 3"3/4 figures to go with it it'd be perfect !

i just got mine today, its nice, i had the sunstar but the color was not right its too copper finishy. but this 1/15th car is nice and def ready for some custom work. has anyone else hooked theirs up yet? im thinking of just adding a wireless rf switch to turn it on and off.

could you pls tell me more about this wireless RF switch? i would like to know how it works.

I had the idea of using a remote switch (those that you use to open your garage doors or auto-gates) on the DeLorean and set it up as a display piece. But this would also involve using a lot of diodes and some re-wiring (if you want to make it more 'accurate' that is). Its readily available where I live and most to most, a single channel would be OK. The theory is on page three on my website.

I think the perfect incentive for me to buy this would be some action figures to go with it!
Last I heard, there were some likeness-rights issues that were preventing the manufacterer from doing figures but hopefully that will change at some point.
Wish we had BTTF toys years ago! It's about time! (no pun intended)

I got the original release of this and the BTTF2 one with the hover conversion is just a slightly modified one. I wasn't as impressed by it as i'd hoped to be. There are better diecast BTTF cars out there for half the price.
