The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Thoughts & Questions (SPOILERS)

Hey. If you live in America, you might not of seen this film, so I'll try not to post major spoilers.

So i seen the film a couple of days ago, being a major Spider-Man fan, naturally I had to. I'd followed Marc Webbs Twitter since principal photography began and watched this film build its self up and up. From seeing the first one, it was a great continuation.

The film to me seem to focus a lot more of Peter's father, and Oscorp than anything else. For a Spider-Man film, it did seem to have a lot less Spider-Mannyness that usual, which i thought was kind of crap, but learning about Peter's father in a way the Raimi trilogy could have never accomplished was actually kind of interesting and cool, especially as the TASM series has followed the comics a lot more closely.

A lot of people think what happened near the end was a "major plot twist", but if reading the comics or if you have at least minor knowledge on the Spider-Man universe, it wasn't much of a surprise. I'll leave it at that, as not to spoil anything.

I felt like after being hyped up and made to look badass, all the villains were a tad...lackluster. For a Spider-Man movie, the villains didn't seem to phase Peter, or present much of a fearsome challenge. All action was crammed into the last 15 minutes, with Electro being made out to be a wimp who didn't want to hurt people, Green Goblin only lasting five minutes and Rhino...well he didn't even need to be IN the movie, even though he has confirmed he will be in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. It start getting boring around 2 hours in for me, and the 3D effects weren't very 'in your face', albeit there wasn't many of them.

So. I'll probably add more into this thread as i really can't be bothered typing for centuries, but what was YOUR opinion (if you've seen it), and if not, what are your thoughts on what you've heard/seen on it?

The biggest thing for me, is probably the suit. I'd be interested in seeing how they made it. (click on images for bigger version).

The suit seems to be made of some sort of silk or something, as it has a rather velvety, dark look on it. I don't know what to call it (maybe someone could help me out?), but it doesn't look like any spidey suit we've seen on the big screen.

Here is another example of the reflective material made to look like a form of silk. They seem to have gone back to the raised webbing effect, and based off what i seen it doesn't have a honeycomb pattern anymore.

I know plenty of people have made TASM 2 suits in the way most spidey suits are made, but this being from a big budget movie, what do you think was used? what kind of helmet is that he is wearing to shape the mask? what material is the costume made from? what did they use for the webbing/spiders? It seems like thin Urethane.

Well, if anyone could point me in the direction of the making of this suit, I'd be happy. I'm interested in making one, but i want to make it right.

Feel free to share your thoughts on opinions, on acting, casting, the movie or the suit, anything TASM wise. I'll be here :)

Hey man, there are a lot of people building asm 2 suits here currently, please use the search function, and have a read through al the ASM2 suit related threads.

And, all the movie discussions has to be made in their proper forum sub part, the entertainment and movie part is suited for such a thread, and I'm sure there already is one, just go join that. This is the replica costumes section :)

Good luck on your build

Hey man the whole suit was screen printed and then sewn together sorry if I'm late but I just saw this and the bricks and webs are black but reflective. Good luck!
