Did we ever figure out if this was the deeper Folmer carve or an Inc style eye? I read through the giant TFA research thread, but could have easily missed that.

TLJ is an early shiny Folmer no patent glass eye, numerous pics makes it almost certain to me

Definitely the 1928 shiny version. Its shape is pretty unique - here it is next to a early Folmer eye for comparison

Yeah, I have a Folmer that's shinier than anything else I have, but not THAT shiny and didn't come with that version of the glass eye, just the more standard glass eye.

I like how Star Wars continues the tradition of the super rare items being used..........

Im pretty sure the propmakers do it on purpose at this point. "We'll use the rarest possible variation of this part, that will show those RPFers, muahahahahahahahahaha!"
On one hand I am delighted I have a shiny 1928 in my collection as we can 100% identify it as screen used but on the other hand I'm 100% OT so it's wasted on me as a saber prop but love it as part of the graflex variations

So is the best tell on this guy the eye? It's hard to tell shininess from online pictures.

Isn't it more likely that the prop guys just buffed/shined up whatever Graflex they used? I doubt they'd be concerned with authentic finish so much as making the graflex look as otherworldly as possible, so I see no reason to assume that it must be an obscure shiny variant. Unless there are other tells that go along with this 1928 shiny that are apparent on the screen-used prop?

Even a slight buff/polishing can reveal the nickel and copper plating layer on early Graflex handles.
So TLJ is almost definitely 1928 Folmer top.

In addition to the finish, the unique glass eye shape and round Folmer pins are more evidences toward the top being 1928 version.
