syfy's fangasm

As far as this show, I'll pass. I kept seeing the previews and that Trekkie guy saying he goes to the store in his Starfleet uniform "and people say, 'You're such a cosplayer!'" and all I could think was, "Uh, yeah. Sure they do."

Some of us went to Burger King in Starfleet uniforms during filming of our webseries and they thought we were completely insane. It became a running joke, though, and one time we had the crew guys all following us with cameras as if they were our paparazzi or something. It was hilarious, but if people actually see someone out and about in a Starfleet uniform, they don't talk to you, they stare. They stare a lot.

I missed the second episode. Well, saying I missed it is a stretch, more like I didn't see it. What do you mean by that?

Half the episode pretty much revolved around 4 of them essentially pairing off and them asking each other out or flirting or getting angry from sexual tension or blah blah blah.

Yet another show that makes a fandom look bad. Is it any wonder that people look down on cosplayers/gamers/comic fans?

Hmmm.... Episode 2 was hit and miss. I liked that they talked about the relatively current topic of ****-shaming and Cosplay does not equal consent. I LOVED that they actually had both sides of the argument and didn't handle it in a completely one-sided fashion. Thanks, Adrianne Curry for seeing this "issue" for what it is.

Still... ehhh... little too much awkward geek-love.

Awkward geek-love... that reads awfully redundant to me like... chainmail.

Haven't had the chance to watch episode 2, probably do that later today!

speaking of geek love... The guy Sal who is extremely "childish" or "shy" was on a web series called ...."GEEK LOVE" all about speed dating at con's. He wasnt so shy back then. I cant seem to find his episode online anymore :/

Wasn't that also a reality show on scifi were nerds dated or lived in a house together?

Episode 1 was on scifi. For some reason it wasn't the huge hit they thought it was going to be so they turned it into a web series.

I only tuned in for the part of the show where they were pitching Stan Lee comic book characters but you would think that for being huge comic geeks, they would of known that The Falcon is taken and that the even if you change the spelling, wakanda is the nation ruled by Black Panther.

Hmmm.... Episode 3 of Fangasm.... a bit boring. I appreciate there isn't made up drama, but at the same time you have to keep it moving along. The pitches were just embarassing. Here is to hoping the next episode picks up a bit.

yep, the whole episode i was like: how much time till its over, this is boring. im not a fan of drama, but at least have something interesting

I had those exact same thoughts. Stan the Man even said something like "that's a good name" when Sal said "Wokanda".

That aside it did make me think about if I were to have the chance to pitch a comic to Stan, what would I do...and could I do any better? Well, after about twenty minutes of lying in bed looking at the ceiling the answer was "yes, yes I could" and I promptly wrote down my idea and then the next morning at work I hammered out details, and decided on how to present it. I came to the conclusion that either they were told to make the presentations crappy or they simply have no idea how to convey an idea which is sad.

Wah wah... Really liked the first episode because these characters seemed at least somewhat genuine... but this has just turned into nerds in love. Awkward and boring.
