Well I spent the Guts of the day trying to get the mask to fit snuggly and comfortably.  Messed about with various thicknesses of foam  and must have had the mask of and on about 20 times. Still not 100% happy. I expanded the eye sockets and cut some breathing holes in the Jowl area.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the ventilation system which will hopefully get some much needed cool air into the mask. I built a rather large system last year which was planned to hang off the backpack, however I am using more or less the same design and using a computer fan instead  which is considerably smaller and will post some pics if successful.

Cheers

Sean

Bio looks good on there, I did the same as you with a computer fan in the backpack, it didn't work too well for some reason, so time for some tinkering with that when I get the time.
To keep my blade gauntlet in place I used a soil pipe adapter, turned inside out and bolted to the gauntlet - it's just a tight friction fit but it seems to work.

Congratulations Sean! The suit has turned out looking great and you look quite a home in it. Time to go hunting! (y)

Great suit all round Sean!  Man I dig that bio!  The colors match perfectly!
Cheers buddy appreciate the comment.

Thanks Troggs for the tips, I think the Guanlet slipped due to a the velcro not being tight enough, will have to do a few dry runs with it.

So today I managed to get the Saddles skinned and there are some fantastic shapes there to make a wolf type Armour down the line.  I also started on the ventilation system which will attach to the back of the Armour and feed a pipe into just below my chin.  I spoke to me neighbor who works in electronics regarding the build and what he could help me do with it in the future.  Knew it was  a good sign when we went into his office and there was a Predator Diorama of figures..lol.  Anyway he is fired up and is already going to upgrade the Bio with lasers as it is one of his main fields of work.  I bumped into him later and he has already been digging out motors and servos for animating a cannon and he was quite fired up about it  Think I have created a monster there, welcome to the hobby lol

Cheers

It may be too late to ask, but where did you buy those dreads? the ones i have are pretty bad

Lonewolf260...PM sent.

Torredator, cheers appreciate the comment. I am presently going back to basics and plan on building new Armour from the horse saddles I have skinned and build a new hopefully animatronic backpack. Spending time also finishing off the ventilation system, hope to post some pics soon.

cheers

Sean

I had another Test fit today.  The mask is still slipping back and not sitting right. Through trying to readjust I had fingernails snapping off Hands and was pretty uncomfortable for most of the time.  The weight of the Dreads keeps pulling the mask back off my eyes and mouth...

On a plus side as I stepped out the front door a young neighbor across the street spotted me coming out of the house and started screaming 'Predator there's a Predator, her friends all rushed out and asked if they could take pics.  It was a buzz and shape of things to come, however was spoiled with Mask Teething problems.  One of their friends hung about just standing and taking loads of pics...lol my first groupie.

Sean

So it's fan adulation you crave. Just kidding, I can understand the buzz you get when your work is first revealed to the general public and I can't think of anything else that can attract as much awe and drooling as a custom made Predator suit. Sorry to hear you're having a few teething problems, but really that's all they are. Not be long before it's all sitting perfectly and you can showcase the suit in earnest. I'm going to wait a bit longer before I venture up to see you, so you have it exactly the way you want it. Just imagine the weight of the bio amd mask if you had used backer rod. Proves the money was well spent on custom light weight dreds.

Yesterday I had a couple of young visitors who are friends of my brother-in-law and are Alien/Predator fanatics. You can of course imagine their excitement and it gave me abuzz too thinking I might have encouraged two new potential builders of the future. The 11 year old brought me his portfolio of Alien/Predator drawings to have a look and critique. My brother-in-law wasn't kidding when he said he is a fanatic. After about an hour they decided to make tracks but not before I gave them the Hunters Lair website. Might be seeing at least one new member in the near future. I wish to ****** I had this opportunity when I was 11. Could have been in Hollywood now!

Keep up the good work. Suit looks ace BTW.

Stephen

LOL.Stephen, yeah the suit definitely had an impact on my neighbours and can't wait to go on a proper Hunt.  Good to hear that there is a budding Predator out there and your friends are welcome to come and visit as well.

The problem with the mask is the weight of the Dreads drags the mask back and will have to come up with some plan to secure it firmly in place.  I have two weeks to sort this out before attending the Newmilns Gala where I'm doing some Charity work.

Finally sorted out the mask slippage problem.

I stripped down an old cycle helmet and halved the hard foam part.  It snugly fitted into the mask and I put in some thin foam for comfort.  Mask now stays firmly in place and have found that when I move my jaw i am getting some small mandible movement which is fantastic.  First Hunt is now this Sunday at another local Gala, can't wait. Just have to sort out the teething Problems with the ventilation system and the voice changer.

Cheers Sir I really appreciate the comment.  I love the Bio however it is just too vision restrictive to wear for any length of time.  Maybe after a few 'Hunts' and once I am used to wearing  the Mask I might be a bit more adventurous.  The mask itself seriously limits my peripheral vision, can't even see my feet, so walking down stairs etc is a total nightmare.

Have been working frantically tying up loose ends with the buid as my first 'Hunt' is on Sunday.

The suit ventilation system has taken up a lot of my time and I have come up with this..

temporary_zpsc818ea9a.jpg

It will sit on the backpack and the hose will curve round the right shoulder and feed a tube just in below my mouth. It is a built using two computer fans run from a 9 volt battery and gives a nice steady flow of Air.  It is a bit off the wall and thinking it's a bit Gigeresque with the hose coming out of the skull lol.  Still some weathering and painting to be done but you get the general idea where I am going with this.

Cheers

Sean

I'm anxious to see how that works Sean.  I've been trying to come up with something, but short of a small oxygen tank in the backpack I haven't figured anything out.  Let us know how it works out, and have FUN on Sunday!!!

Brian

Thanks Brian, can't wait and am a bit nervous, truth be told.  As for the ventilation system Sunday will be the 'Truth O the Pudding' as we say, it does pump out a fair volume of Air, however there is still Back-Pressure on the Fan due to the Air  being forced in too smaller pipes. It does work however will have to evaluate how much it cools and provides fresh air and the 'Is it worth it Factor'...lol

Cheers

Sean

Here is a pic of the Ventilation system attached to the Back Pack.  It did work very well on my first 'Hunt' on Sunday and gave me a nice steady stream of Air just under my mouth.

temporary_zps888ff67e.jpg

I also attached two small powered speakers which you can see at the top off the backpack and just underneath the Canon.  The speakers are attached to a voice changer which is attached to the inside of the backpack.  I also attached a plastic sleeve inside the backpack Armour which neatly holds all the wires for the various things that are going on.

My first 'Hunt' was fantastic and I was left totally Buzzing.  As was expected some kids and adults were a bit freaked out however this was offset by many who shook my hand and had photographs taken.  Did manage to raise a bit for Charity as well and had a small group of volunteers with collection boxes.  There were some kids who thought it was great fun to spray me with silly string on my back lol.  I lasted about two hours and had a small river of sweat running down the suit from my mask by that point.  When I was taking the suit off I was surrounded by about five kids all eager to see who was behind the mask and bombarded me with a hundred questions about how I built it etc.  It was a great day and was pleasantly surprised that nothing broke or fell off.  There are a few areas on the skin where the paint has rubbed off due to friction however nothing that can't be easily repaired.  I don't have a great deal of photographs to post as my helper kind of got caught up in the Buzz and forgot to take them, however here is the few that I have.  I do have another 'Hunt' on Saturday in my home village's Gala Day and for me that will be the BIG one.

Has already been pointed out on Facebook that last Pic clearly shows A Pred wearing fishnet stockings... have to have words with my Helper for the day to pull up the things up underneath the armour and hide the lacy bit lol

Sean

****** you really pulled it off Sean. Everything turned out in the end and you met your deadline which is even more impressive. Got to say that backpack is just beautiful.Glad you got good weather for your first outing and hopefully nesxt Saturday will be as sunny. You'll be famous now and make sure you get your picture in the paper for posterity. Kids and adults alike are fascinated with the Predator even if they aren't ardent fans like us.

Take a bow.
