I started creating my predator last November and am progressing slowly, there just never seems to be enough hours in the day, between work and the kids. I had started a few threads on individual pieces I had created but unfortunately I deleted the pics through newbie stupidity.

I thought I would start a W.I.P thread to pull all the work I have done together on my first newbie build. It has been blood sweat and tears so far and a slow learning curve and my house is now take over with bits of junk I seem to be constantly collecting to use. The Predator I am creating is in no way screen accurate, however once my first build is complete I plan to accessorise and have a 'Pred Wardrobe ' of interchangeable Pieces perhaps more accurized.

I am in no desperate rush to finish the suit and would rather take my time and get things looking the way I want, however would like to think by next July that it will be complete.

The shouler Cannon started off as a Ben 10 gun...

Sawed off, the bottom part and added greeblies. This is it primed and ready to paint.

The backpack was constructed out of a piece of Jablite, covered with foam, a Dr who mask, foamies and greeblies. I used a piece of the Ben 10 gun to form the arm of the Cannon.

Here is the finished piece, weathered and varnished.

Aaaayee well spotted...can you spot the halo warthog tyre for a bonus prize..lol yeah Andre I loved the shapes in it it and have used quite a lot for bits and pieces of detail.

Thanks Firelad. When I started the build I did not have the skills to create a movie accurate backpack and came up with this. I based the design on the premise that the backpack also functions to vent heat from the plasma chamber through the vents in the side. The design will also enable me to securely fasten the backpack to my armour. Glad you like

I wanted to make it taller so that it would give my hand a freedom of movement once it was on and not have it bashing into the blades.

It is light though and has velcro straps at bottom to secure, maybe a bit top heavy but had to compramise for the hand movement.

Here are some pics of my armour progress so far. When I started the build I had no idea where to start creating the armour, fixing it to my body and attaching the backpack.

I bought this body armour to provide a solid base...

My friend Scott gave me his skinned old leather couch and I dressed up the armour with it.

I stil have a lot of weathering to do on all the pieces. Plan to use a soldering iron to score scratches on all the pieces, use sandpaper and different colours of shoe polish. for this.

Thanks Brian hopefully I can get the backpack finally attached to the armour by the end of the week, will post a pic showing how it looks.

I am going to tackle the feet over the next few weeks and plan on using these big bad boys that I found in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago. Only cost £25 so if it does not work out no big loss.

I bought these demon gloves online and have butchered off the fingers to use as toes.

I filled up the toes with granular cat litter to give them integrity and sealed the ends with foam. I plan to use expanding foam and have found one that is a minimal expansion so hopefully I can be more acurate and it won't balloon to much.

The boots are a size 13 and I am only a size 9. This has allowed to fit a gym trainer inside which allows for a tighter fit but will also let me change if they get too sweat soaked. It feels really wierd when you have them on and pushes my height to about 6 foot 4. You feel like one of the Cylons from the Battllefield Earth film..lol (Great book, crap film). They never had boots like that when I was a Goth 20 odd years ago, had to make do with Winkelpickers.

Loveing that backpack and all the leather. It's almost a shame to wreck those boots but I am sure it will look great when its done.

Finally finsished bomb Gauntlet. The Gaunlet countdown on top is fake and just for effect. The Gauntlet however houses a sound system. The system is powered by an HTC desire smartphone and JBL powered speakers. I have a random selection of predator sounds and movie clips which plays throught the speaker system on the top. The smartphone also runs the Predator vision app which layers sounds and effects over the mp3 sounds. The speaker system is removable and I can create a functioning Bomb Countdown at a later date If I wish. Have created a short video to let you hear how it sounds and shows off some of the features.

That gaunt is bad ass, and I love the sound fx! I have a couple of old smart phones I may have to incorporate into my bomb gaunt. Keep up the fantastic work!

Here are some pics of the progress with the feet. Many thanks to all who assisted me by posting advice in my help with expanding foam thread, Wonko, Double H, Ostberg and TitanPredator.

This is where im at so far.

I have carved out the basic shape.

Once ii was carved I added spackle to cover the air hole and small imperfections and then have sanded it down. Have had a love/hate relationship with the stuff and have got to the point I have to stop, I feel you could go on forever and never totaly smooth out the stuff.

I used some artistic license with the feet and put two claws straight out the back. I did this purely for the reason I was worried that the inside claw would catch when walking and I would have to walk like a duck..lol

I now plan to put some detail on the feet before latexing and will add some veins using varying thickness of cord.
