Stormtrooper Helmet

I plan on having my Stormtrooper helmet painted by an auto shop. I am going for the ESB version but my question is "what tint should I use for the frown and chin"? The frown looks to be a dull or matte finish while the chin looks glossy. Is this correct? As far as the ears what should I suggest to the painter as far as the correct color grey? and are the trim around the ears glossy or matte? Finally and this may sound dumb but what color white would you all suggest. Ok one more question do any of you know what term I should use to explain to the painter the color that I want Example: jet black, ebony, tungsten grey.....

Oops, I guess my other interests showed thru. Why yes it is MA. I take it you are a fellow mustang owner.

Yep, sure am. hee hee

It's easy to cross the two hobbies. There is just as much research and color matching to restoring or making a clone Mustang as there is with figuring out props. :)

Anyone have the PPG codes (or equivalent) for Stormy colors?

The grey on the trooper lid is Humbrol No 5 and the blue stripes is humbrol no 15, the same as the ab plate buttons. I used humbrol black no 21 on the chin and for the stripes over the grey parts. These are all gloss enamal paints btw.

there all GM paint codes... sorry.

:lol

so your having an autobody shop paint a TK bucket?

i dont know that ive ever heard of that being done.

it would be interesting to see.

are you having them paint it assembled? so its one solid piece when done?

Save yourself some money bud and slap white gloss household paint on it like the originals. It gives the helmet a really nice shine and is more 'authentic'.

same way i have my WIP ESB set up so far :thumbsup

Rustoleum Gloss White is what I used for my ANH TE Helmet (as well as the armor).

Came out great and has kept is sheen since I painted it over a year ago.

I have a supply list that I used on my TK costume, which includes all the part numbers. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

The shop that I am having do the helmet is doing it for free as a favor. I agree with the paint that that 's Jorusfett suggested, the helmet goes to a TE suit that I have and was painted per TE's suggestion but I use a AP helmet when when I wear the armor. The TE I plan on getting painted by the shop and it will be a display only.

As far as the helmet, TE sent it already put together so I dont want to take it apart to have it painted.

I dont know if the shop would be able to use humbrol paints with there paint guns hence the reason I was asking for suggestions on paint. I can only assume right now that they will be using a big gun for the white but maybe a small one for the other paints so maybe I can supply them with the humbrol.

Suggestions / comments on the above?

I assume you have the matte finish helmet. If so, All you have to do is take out the mic tips (unscrew them), remove the lens, and take off the brow and underside trim and you should be good to go. That's what I did with mine.
