Stormriders Boba Fett interior Helmet Kits:)

Some of you may know me from TDH. Others may not.

I dabble in Fett items, but really like to create my own things whenever possible. One of the things I am known for are my rubber items.[...]
It was suggested that I share some of the projects here. I have tried to sign up for over a year, but never seemed to make the timing work!

Currently im working on my boba fett internal foams, as well as internals for a biker scout helmet (MLC Based as thats what was loaned to me for the project).

My previous kits consisted of 7 individual pieces, that went into the helmet.

The looked like so:

They are a very soft (think nerf) with a supple rubber over them. They came in the colors shown, those are unpainted. many people did very nice interiors with them, but they ultimately, left me with an incomplete feeling. So recently I decided to take a fairly popular fett helmet, and build a new set of interiors to fit it.

I began with the buildup of the model to fit in the rear of the helmet.

I then made a mold, and pulled a piece in 30 D rubber (white) to test the placement and the look. Lets face it, look is everything. My originals had too techy a look, so I decided to use some found parts, some millenium falcon parts, some basic shapes from the riddell interiors, and some of my own pizazz, this is the way the mockup looked.

It seemed decent, so I pulled a full black rubber piece, to glue in, so that I could move on to the next stage. The cheeks and forehead.

The black dye was no good, so it has a splotchy appearance, but this picture is included for reference, for the overall look once mounted.

Madness ensues, as I try to figure out the cheeks forhead, gasket for the T-visor and finally a top (the top is difficult because it changes the fit drastically.

Im hoping to have these done in a month or so, as well as the biker scout pieces, which will be a whole nother post.

Input and thoughts are always welcome.

That's really cool! I've got some other helmets (Stormtrooper and Gunner) that would look great with something like that. What exactly is the material you used? I'm not familiar with it (still fairly new to the prop building scene). Thanks!

I'm a HUGE fan of your work on TDH, and really happy to see your stuff here too bro. I WILL be ordering one, once I get my next FPH in.

Thanks for the kind words.

The material is actually a multi part process. I use a harder rubber for areas that do not come in contact with skin, then a softer 30 durometer rubber (think ripe banana peel) and then a nerf foam to fill the cavaties behind the soft rubber. Its time consuming, but it turns out really soft, and VERY durable.

The cheeks are proving difficult to get proper, but im getting closer. I like to say, its all over but the crying:)

Two Questions:

When are the Fett kits going to be ready to order??

When are you going to offer lifesize Han in Carbonite again??

Mate that looks awesome I may be way off but as a suggestion to pimp it out even more u could embed some different coloured leds in the rubber they cost like 20c each just place them in before it cures leaving the connectors protuding out the back of the rubber and the led out the front so u can see them light up where the connectors come out the back u could run some wiring and make them blink or come on in a sequence with a small circuit board it would add a whole new dimension to that already awesome looking helmet interior the circuit would be quiet simple if needed I could help u with the wiring

...and I could help with punctuation.:wacko

@ Will -Very good idea. The led would have to be flat however. Does anyone know if they make a low profile LED? I would have no problem adding LED's to them. Ill look to see what I can find.

Today im working on a mold of the cheek.

Well, not a mold, more of a pseudo face. I baked a piece of polystyrene, and then laid it over the inner cheek. This gave me a nice, flush piece of plastic to sculpt on, that will fit nicely onver the interior of the cheeks. It turned out a little wavy, so I placed a piece of thin sintra over the center half circle piece, and then bondoed the half moon piece that surrounds it.

Once the bondo is dry, I will sand, put a finish coat of bondo, sand, paint, and then start sculpting the left cheeks electronics. Ill post a pic today once the prep work is done.

Yeah there are alot of choices with leds ,remember they usually operate at quiet a low voltage. Make sure your power source and polarity are correct, you can easily use a resistor to correct the voltage.
