I would like to know if any of you out there know any thing more about a fur application technique that Phil Tippett seemed to have used for the tauntaun puppet. In Lorne Peterson's book Sculpting a galaxy he writes " Phil would brush a water-soluble glue onto the fur and let it settle above the roots then he would carefully cut away the skin at the back, leaving the follicles to be locked together with latex". Has any one out there done this and if so can you give me any more info on the procedure.
Thanks
Scott

Hello scotthothpatrol,

I don't know if this applies, but here's one technique on preparing fur for a stop-motion puppet. It's very similar to the technique Phil was using.
