Been picking away at this little project for a while now. Got so tired of seeing spray-painted paper towel tubes passed off as goggles...
Almost finished so I figured I'd post a few pics. Practically no budget, admittedly. I do apologize for the cell phone quality photos. 'Tis all I have for the moment.
Here they are on my (significantly more photogenic) coworker.
The big ol' magnifier lenses do the trick nicely. Toys 'R' Us.
Took a lifecast of my mug and started sculpting right onto it.
Using Chavant soft...realized it wasn't the right hardness for this project. I really needed medium or hard to get the nice edges. Used some alginate I scored from my internship employer to mold/cast it in... :confused bondo. Was ugly, but did the trick.

Finished sculpt in bondo, painted to test the color scheme.
Molded in silicone my other employer very kindly donated to the cause.
Ran flexible urethane in the mold and got these out of it.
Really wanted to run them again with the color already in 'em, but I got a call requesting the use of this set for a student film. Painted them up quick and ended up like this. Silicone weather stripping for padding is very comfortable, and leather strap with adjustable snaps. Lenses are held in by tension, and sit in nice little grooves.
The director loves them, but I really want the surface to match the sculpt. Will run another one once I scrounge up some dough for urethane.
Thanks for lookin' and sharing my joy!
