Star Trek PADD collection

I've started to build a collection of PADDs (my favorite trek props) and thought to put them here! I'm still working on a bunch more and will update it as I get them finished. None of the graphics are taped/glued down, just sitting in place. I'm going to work on some custom graphics as well. I'm hoping to do a few DS9 and TNG film padds, so if anyone has more suggestions as to what kind of detailing tape, foil, etc. that I can use I'd appreciate that!

large voyager and small voyager padds from Matt Munson templates and graphics, and a late small TNG/DS9 engineering PADD from a template I drew up based on screen reference and tech manual measurements, with munson graphics;

A clear Voyager PADD from Kertratz;

And a couple of in progress padds, a DS9 and another small voyager padd both based on templates I recently drew up;

Padds are my favorite :D They're a great way to display different kinds of imagery and just look cool together.

A simple new graphic for the small voy padd I put together today based on some reference.

These are wonderful! I love Star Trek props and costumes. Have you ever considered making a PADD case for iPhones or iPads? That would be totally neat.

Thanks! That would be cool; there are places where you can get custom prints on those cases. Amazing how much the ipad actually looks like a padd hehe

I finished this one yesterday; it was cut from one of Munson's templates, and I painted it to resemble an engineering padd. Main screen graphics were found online. I'm still working on a few of my own graphics but it's going slow.

Finished this TNG film version of the small padd today. Painted with Krylon Dove Gray

Thanks :) TNG is my favorite, but recently I've been hooked on DS9. It was the one series I didn't like when I was younger, but love now.

Put together this largge 9" x 12" padd. Looks huge next to the small ones haha. The larger sizes are more fun with the graphics. For this one I just took a few from a variety of sources and pieced them together. I'm working on a few of my own for this one and will update that later. Haven't finished the small button strip detail yet! The one this is based on has copper tape around it; I'm not sure yet if i'm going to do that, but I just might.

Very impressive! Do you use a laser cutter to make these or are they all by hand? I make mine with the scroll saw and it takes a bit of time.

I tried hand cutting my first padd out of styrene and realized that I wasn't going to be able to do a very clean job with it, so I've had all of my padds laser cut. Also I just don't have that kind of patience with some of these props lol. It gets pricey, but I've decided to only get a select few cut so I think it was worth it hehe. Padds get kind of addicting. I just finished up the small graphic for the big padd. Just made it up for now.

To me the padds are kind of like fancy picture frames, so the graphics end up being more fun. So I'm just going to work on different graphics next for all of these, since I've borrowed a lot of the imagery thus far.

Those are some great looking PADDs. Would love to have some of those clear PADDs. They are really cool!!

Again, great PADD collection!!

Kenny

Thanks!

The clear padd was made by a member here named Kertratz. He's done a super job with them. I believe he made 3 different versions?

He may still have some available; if you're interested you can let him know :)

Those look really good. I am amazed that I read about the PADDs back in 88 or 89 from the technical journal. Now I look at the Ipads and such and it is exactly like what is described in the book. Life imitates art.

Thanks! It is amazing how much Trek has influenced our technology.

I just finished this DS9 8x10 padd today. It's one of the more unique pieces I've done as the transparency screen has a metallized look and reflects light differently. I think it gives the piece a lot more life. Kind of hard to see in the photos but it looks nice in person. I also got a hold of some of the black tape and will be detailing the backside of the padd soon.

Some pieces I've made recently. The screen graphic for the 6x9 was redrawn from one I found online..unfortunately can't remember where the original came from.

Finished a new 4x6 large screen tng padd today, based on a template I drew up using a Rick Sternbach drawing with measurements. I really like the older TNG gray color.

These are great!..

You just laser cut some acrylic for the 'outer' pieces? (bezels)

also great job the clear graphics one posted above.. those came out great for your project..

maybe take a thin tablet and build up a bezel/cover for it.. and have a real/interactive PADD (flash) interface!?

I just posted a free PADD image in .PSD format in the free paper goods section too. (PADD SURFACE GEOLOGY) interface..
