Insignificant as it may be, I almost peed myself when I saw this, as I didn't think there was anything else to be dissected and discovered in on-screen ST prop info :lol

It has always been thought that the only clear reference to this prop artwork was from the Art of Star trek book.

This is the best one could come up with of the former.

The bottles were seen in the background in Quarks's quarters in the episode "Dogs of War" (sold off by Christie's at some point, no pictures).

In the episode "Behind the Lines" (no markings) :

And in the episode "Prodigal Daughter" :

When I was painting my own replica, there was no other good source to rely on other than the Art of Star Trek image.

I'm in the middle of watching DS9 at the moment, and a few days ago, I watched the episode "Facets".

When Odo 'lends' his body in order for Curzon to take it over for Jadzia's Zhian'tara, he opens a bottle to pour a drink in his office.

He says he confiscated it from a Yridian smuggler, but doesn't mention the name of the drink.

Ta-Dah :lol

If anyone is a member of memory-alpha / Star trek Wiki, you may wish to insert / correct this info somewhere in there, since they say "Curzon opens a bottle of confiscated Yridian ale and shares it with Jadzia."

No mention of this appearance of Saurian Brandy appears under the "Saurian Brandy" Wiki information page either, although it states all the DS9 episodes it appears or is mentioned in.

Note the previously unseen markings at the top of the stopper :D ... which I will soon add on to my replica :lol

Yeah those bottles the way they were dressed were all over the place.

They also used the 1980 re-release of the Dickel powderhorn bottle iirc.

Now those bottles are EXTREMELY RARE.

I see these bottles in my area every now and then. I pick 'em up when I do.

I currently only have one in my collection, but will offer any that I do find on a first come, first serve basis. After I have met the requirements, of course.

Yup! Thanks for the details!

Bought the Christie's Trek Auction catalog for reference a couple weeks ago, and it reignited my love for Trek Props.

Do you have any better detailed pics of the markings?

I thank you for your efforts. May leave that detail unfinished until I can get a high res pic.

Do you have pics of the rest of the script?

I'm another one who went scouring the 'net way back when for any and all images of that writing, these are the best (and as far as I know, only) images we have, until such time as DS9 gets the blu-ray treatment. Thanks to Alan I may just have to get my bottles out and finally finish converting them, although the detail-obsessed brain of mine means I still have a couple of other bottle labels in unfinished state because I can't get good enough reference to get them exact.

As far as I can tell, looking at the different angles on the screencaps, there isn't a strip at all on the DS9 version. That's probably because, using the darker Dickel bottle, that raised writing doesn't show up on camera. Whereas, on the lighter version used in TOS, the bright studio lights would shine through the bottle and highlight the writing, necessitating the cover-up.

I think he means the one going round the bottom of the bottle, right above the bottle's own leather base, not a vertical one from the top. If you look closely at the caps, there is one there. It is especially visible in the cap where Odo is holding it up. Can't tell what material it is though.

On the one where Nog is pouring, however, there is no strip or Saurian script. Must have been a rush job prop.

I was referring to the vertical raised lettering molded into the glass. There is indeed something covering it in the above pics, but my question is whether it is tape or leather.

With the actual leather, I figured they just painted over the original leather.

Hmm, I had to significantly lighten the images, but I can see a vertical strip on one image of the bottle. At a guess I'd say it's tape for convenience. As for the strip around the bottom of the bottle... you can only see that when Odo/Curzon lifts it by the neck. My guess is that the bottle came loose from the leather (or the leather stretched) when they were painting it, so they put another strip there to help it sit snug.
