Hey all!
We've finally gotten a fairly involved project onto our site! Since production wrapped, the fragile foam latex Borg Queen costume had flattened a bit during storage, and in addition to some pretty severe cracking, it was beginning to lose flexibility.
This display required the entire team to use all of our skills to bring her to life. Maria spent months carefully restoring the screen used costume as well as creating a custom mannequin to fit the tiny bodysuit. I sculpted a custom bust of actress Alice Krige which we added to capture the moment where her head descended from the ceiling and connected to her body. This gave us a way to keep the costume displayed on a neutral form but still have some life in it.
Steven fabricated several pieces including the light up vertebrae. We were also lucky enough to source castings from the molds of the original boots and greeblies to finish off her display in a screen accurate way.
We're all proud of the results, taking a costume at risk of crumbling and turning it into a lifesized statue of The Borg Queen! Even more importantly the client was thrilled with how she looks!
Hope you enjoy the pics and process! If you want to see more photos of the Borg Queen display, or our other original movie prop and costume restorations, check out the project's page on our all new website - http://www.tomspinadesigns.com/rest...props/borg-queen-costume-restoration-display/
