Star Trek 2009 Rank Stripes.

Hi--I'm new to this here forum, but costuming is something I have been doing for a while.

I have a question I hope will be not too painful to answer--does anyone know what material was used for the rank stripes in the 2009 Star Trek film? I have been trying to pin point it but success remains elusive to me.

If this has already been discussed---sorry and could someone point me in the right direction?

I remember reading on ASAP that the stripes were just simple iron-on transfer pieces like this one: http://www.spot98.net/1materials/buy_metalic.html

Chrome metallic seems to be the right choice. You'd basically need to cut the sheets into 1/2" & 1/4" strips (depending on rank) and iron-on before sewing the sleeves. Make sure the bands align properly before sewing.
