Star Lord Work in Progress

So, I decided to do a Star Lord costume, possibly to be ready by Katsukon 2015.

Currently I started working on this to take a break from my Iron Man MK42 build. And it was very needed.

I completed what I set out to do so far with the blasters, and took the time to actually make a semi-detailed instruction manual for modifying the Nerf dart guns from Guardians of the Galaxy.

That should be a link to the document I made. I haven't uploaded the code for the Arduino Trinket yet, but I probably will soon enough and update it with a link.

Feel free to leave comments. As Iron man gets completed and updated again, I'll probably move back to Star Lord again and update the guns to improve them a bit, as I have a few extra ideas.

I might eventually just remove the Nerf components, and add in more capability to allow the exhaust LED's to be turned on/off, as well as some sound eventually, maybe. At this time though, I'm still trying to devise a way to keep the Nerf component and shoot the darts, as I would like that yet. But we'll see how it goes eventually.

Again, any comments are greatly appreciated. Criticism would be great.

Thanks for reading!

So not many updates recently....been busy re-working a bit of my current Iron Man MK42 for Halloween and such.....BUT....

I recently acquired an XYZPrinting Da Vinci 1.0. And while it has it's own quirks (I'll be posting a somewhat comprehensive review via my Google+ account if anyone is interested....probably within the next week), it's really a sweet bit of kit for the price. Even the price of the filament/material really isn't that bad compared to others.

That being said, I am starting my first 3D printed object that is COSPLAY related....Here's the first picture of the first half of the outside of the orb.

I printed it in black for a reason....it should actually make painting this MUCH easier....since I won't need to worry about painting the insides black. I'll just take a brush/rag and wipe on the silver paint for the outside and be done with it.

Overall, so far, I'm very pleased with this. And it's REALLY freaking strong. The first time I tried printing this (and it messed up the print), I was able to stand on half of it and it didn't break, and I'm not a light guy by any means (~205 lbs). I'll post more pictures once I get things a bit further along, and will probably do a bit of a write up on it as well if people desire it.

So I finished the Infinity Gem Orb tonight, and I'm quite happy with the results....aside from not having a gem for it yet.

This is a photo showing how I did the magnets to help hold it together.

Here's a photo of the orb put together after everything and painting.

And lastly, here's a photo with the LED turned on inside the bottom half of the orb.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I'm currently printing the device that pulls the orb out of the force field at the beginning of the movie, for it to go along with this.
So more to come...
