Hello All:

I bought a Star Trek Experience Communicator and we recently moved across the country...sadly, i think my communicator suffered some damage and it doesn't work quite right anymore...When I open the lid, it won't play the sound, and the moire won't move anymore...BUT when I open the lid 1/2 way and press the buttons it does seem to work ?

anyone have ideas/clues what the problem might be ? or would be interested in repairing it for me (i'm willing to pay)

Sad ST Prop Fan & , Thanks

My guess would be that the switch that's activated when the lid flips open came loose and might be slipping. If this is the case, it should just be a matter of opening up the unit and putting the switch back where it goes.

Always try a fresh set of batteries on these before tearing them apart. The weak batteries cause a ton of strange problems on these (and MR's). :lol
Trust me, even if it does not seem like a battery problem, still try a set of fresh batteries. I have run across the the lid switch problem a few times also.

Phez has it right. Try new, fresh batteries and a mild, careful spray of WD40 in the motor. That's what I did to mine and it's smooooooooooth...
