engine cutting.jpg engine lighting test 1.jpg light test 2.jpg Having now settled into my new place on the south coast, I've started back on my Romulan Warbird from Timeless Creations. I've been sorting out the lower hull, adding the detail pieces and working on the engine lighting. I'm saving all the window drill 'till a bit later. Here a test after I painted them flat black to block the light. Still needs a bit more tweaking but so far, it's coming along nicely.

lightingn test 3A.jpg Light test 3.jpg This evening's progress with the warp engine lighting. They're not glued into place yet, nor are the grill pieces properly attached yet, still early days. I'm not rushing this kit, too much fun!

Looking forward to this build, I do hope to acquire one at some point. My understanding is this is cast from an original (that had to have restoration work).

Hey there Sciford,

Im watching in anticipation as I managed to get one from George also (currently on it's way) so watching your build being done so nicely certainly makes me envious.........
Great work, keep the updates coming......

rear port lighting.jpgWill probably go with green, it's how I remembered it on screen. Started side 1 of 2 sides of the rear section this evening. This might take a while... ;)

When I did my small Warbird model I went with a greyish green. The lights from the nacelles help to make it even greener. But I agree with you, plain grey just seems wrong.

aft lighting.jpgI did a rethink on lighting the aft section. long fibre optic strands proved too bulky and messy, lightsheet wasn't bright enough, so I installed 5 - 5mm white leds inside to light the inside (light blocked and painted white) like a Christmas tree! I'll add shorter, possibly lensed fibre optic lengths towards the end of the build.

You know, Sciford, it ain't easy bein' green, but you've done a grand job thus far.

That bit of raised detail near the front of the nacelle shows up on a ton of Greg Jein's work; I even replicated it in scale for my Stargazer build.

warbird windows 2.jpgwindows.jpgWorking on the fore section today; so many windows. The more I study the reference photos, the more places I find I need to open up.. :/ The led's for this should arrive tomorrow :) (Lit using a small led flashlight here.)

Ruddiger, it's crossed my mind to do so. That, and the tractor beam at the bottom of the lower wing assembly...there's certainly plenty of space for the wiring.
