**SPOILERS** New RoS prop image **SPOILERS**

I went looking and found the source myself (since the above poster neglected to elaborate). It's from the instagram of the concept artist who designed it, Matthew Savage (mattsav.concept). I've posted it below.

Obviously while there are differences from the concept to the final prop, this still might be pretty useful to fill in details that are hard to see on film. Particularly the emitter!

Concept art? No d ring on the real one
What's the source?
Yeah, not sure what we're looking at here.

I happened across it on Reddit.

Here are the same images more directly ripped from his instagram post:

The most notable difference from above of course being the belt clip. The concept shows a D ring but the final prop has a different clip to easier attach to Rey's belt without additional hardware:

It doesn't look like the emitter petals are the same shape either. I don't see any slits/holes in the movie compared to the concept:

Then again I can't even really figure out the shape of the petals. (Maybe someone else here already has and I just haven't seen it)

The one front and center seems to be a fairly straightforward rounded triangle on the hinge. But it may be obscured by the glow.
Looking to the sides, those petals look possibly more angular with a bite taken out of the side.
And then you have the concept petal with the hole in the center.

I wonder if the final prop was even considered finished or if they put together a set placeholder and "finished" it with cgi.

Looks to me like the final design resembles your middle option, but with the sticky-out bits folded up at right angles. Basically it's a smooth triangle from the top and a sawtooth from the side.

You’re going to hate to hear this, but the actual “petals” are even more detailed than any of those renderings. The whole mechanism is insane. What’s throwing you off is that they aren’t flat, so when you look at them as they are rotated around the circle, the profiles are looking different.

I’m sure more detailed pics will be available soon.

I sure hope so! Seems near impossible to make a faithful recreation of the saber emitter right now.

Some nice reference pictures for you courtesy of Battlefront 2. The most interesting part being the petal of course.
For whatever reason the model I saw only showed a single closed petal and no other emitter details.

With grid which may help people with overall proportions:

See-through angle on how they did the spoke cavities near the emitter section (where the fun colors show during activation):

It has to be a found part. I can't imagine why else it has the level of detail it does-- and yet, we're seeing concept art above. Very odd.

So it seems custom designed and made after all. I'm amazed!

Where did you find those pictures?

And here's what I currently believe to be the textures for the petals and the emitter inside details:

(Though so far I have no idea how to actually apply the textures to the 3d model.)

He's right. Also, I was so sure that it was a found part to, until I spoke to a few inside sources that told me how they were scratch made.

Looks like aluminum one was made...
It's gotten to the point where I sometimes have a hard time telling, but judging by the weird focus and the "halo-ing" around some of the other items in those images, I think those are also 3D renders and not photos of physical objects.

After all, that IS what this guy does - 3D design.
