The first Product Enterprise 23" eagle was much anticipated but ultimately a disappointment for many. Some glaring innacuracies, variable build quality and some were just plain warped. They still managed to sell 1300 of them though. I think I was lucky and got a reasonably straight one but I've wanted to replace the main engines and attitude thrusters since I got it.
So... I converted a dirt cheap, and poor quality chinese lathe with some stepper motors and made a micro-CNC lathe just big enough to handle the 42mm diameter main engines.
and made these:
and the VTOL engines since the original parts were all the same diameter (small ones are 22mm diameter, larger ones are 25mm)
which fit here:
and these which are 4.5mm (just less then 3/16") diameter
which are for the attitude thrusters:
Just have to paint the insides of the main engines and VTOL's black and mount the VTOLs.
And, before anyone asks, I don't think I'll be making any more. There's a lot of manual work setting up the parts and this was really an experiment in CNC lathing to get a handle on the software, stepper controllers and hardware required before I tackle a bigger lathe.
