Source for textured metalic tape (like luke esb)

I need a pretty fair amount of textured metalic tape like used on Luke's ESB saber... I don't need it for sabers, but rather for a different (totally unrelated) prop I'm making... Anyone know a good inexpensive source?

Check HVAC supply houses. They sell a foil tape used on duct work....Ive seen textured before, but its been awhile. Ill check my supply house for you on teusday when I go back to work.

You can make your own texture in foil tape...

Get some aluminum duct tape (most hardware stores carry it) and then simply place it over a textured surface and roll it with a soft rubber roller (a paint roller might work well), or press it against the patterned surface with your hands...

Check on the scrap booking section of a hobby store they also have embossing machines...

Sounds like a last resort option... since the tape exists and all. The prop I'm attempting to make uses the EXACT same stuff as the saber tape blasttech sells - so i'd like to just find the actual stuff.

So w/ all the saber dorks here - meticulously recreating and discussing sabers - ad nauseum  - no one here can tell me what that tape is and where to get it? Curious :unsure

(ps - I'm not trying to undercut Blasttech at all...he offers a fine product (I've bought from him a couple of times), it just doesn't suit my needs)

I've done long and hard searches for this material, and basttech's was all I could ever find.

I've bought similar tape at a auto supply store for repairing mufflers. They have different kinds and I think several were textured in different ways.

Try this DCB...

FYI - BlasTech had the tape specially made. That's why no one can find a source for the stuff.
The real tape is still unknown.

I've seen the 3M stuff above before. It's not really a raised textured tape. It's a reinforced metallic tape - those lines are thin wires or string.

That's the stuff - THANKS :D Now my dream prop is THAT much closer :D:D

Hope it works out for you. :thumbsup

well crap... and here I thought I was one step closer.... well, here's a couple caps of the item I'm making... Upon further inspection - I think the 3M tape is close but the Blasttech stuff looks better. It has 14 bumps and they go horz/vert instead of diagonal like the 3M stuff...
