Some Doctor Who guns

It was made from a Luger, either a toy or the Japanese model kit that was available at the time (Oh I miss those kits). It has the large front bulge on the grip, and you can see part of the shoulder stock rail at the back. The BBC, like all networks was going to go the cheapest route available, and a toy or model kit fits that bill.

I had a model kit of a Nambu back in the late 70s and the grip was not as large as a Luger's, because the 8mm cartridge is not as long as a 9mm. The 8mm cartridge was considered to be about as powerful as a .32acp round.

I agree with David here, Hedin's gun was made from a Luger model kit. I looked into this when the reference pictures of the original prop first turned up on the ET forum - seeing the price of the kit (over £200) put me right off replicating it!

As for your other gun build replicas, Kevin - they are incredible - the Earthshock rifle is amazing. And the Tesh Gun too, always wanted to have a go at these myself. Quite green with envy, I have to admit!

Thanks, that's kind of you. I couldn't find any kits at all of a Luger so resorted to my old standby of MDF, plasticard and milliput.
The Earthshock rifle is a personal favourite of mine.

I remember the Tesh Gun, always liked it for some reason as a kid. So many new Who Guns have been added since then.
Another oldie I liked the the De-mat gun, always reminded me of the first Trek Phaser Rifle.

Thanks, much appreciated. I'd love to do more big props, but display space is always an issue.
