Well, I'm goin to put this up. I had ordered a set of LAWS armor, and recieved it. Anways, I'm going to aim to get this ready by halloween or so, at least, a clean version for now, cause we *may* be trooping for the star wars in concert event coming at the end of october.

So yea, not really much else I need to do though, except for putting together the armor. I have all the soft parts, minus the pants, as well as the blaster..and a thermal detonator prop as a side :lol

Everything I have so far (mukluks not pictured)

I'll get some pics of the armor in awhile, stay tuned!

Got a bit of work to do, but shouldn't be too bad. Random thought, but I'm thinking of using Goat leather for the cowl

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

Looks nice bro'! I'm currently working on the final stages of a Snowtrooper as well. I picked up a Laws set a couple years back, but had it sitting 'til now. Mine was when he used styrene and I FiberGlassed the inside for strength and then onto painting which suuuucks. Is yours the ABS? Man would it have saved me a buttload of time as it's much stronger than styrene and doesn't need paint. I'll probably toss up some pics once I'm all done since I don't have much more to go....mainly weathering and modding the mukluks.

Yes, it is ABS. I don't plan on painting all of it, but I have to be extra careful then when assembling some of the pieces. As for weathering, Im going to go light with it, but I'm not sure yet. I'll build it first and then worry about making it dirty

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

Yeah, I bet the backpack would be difficult to build to keep the seams to a minimum knowing that you won't have bondo to fall back on to cover any gaps or imperfections.

Hey bro. I've been lurking around there more then usual, just haven't been posting. Yea, I'm very happy to own this kit. It's my first set of armor too! Been waiting 5 years to get a set

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

I have a DL kit as well; couldn't be happier. Strong yet with sharp detail. Looking forward to your WIP.

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

Looks like it will make a great Snowie. Looking forward to updates:thumbsup

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

So I got my armor in today(forgot to mention it was in tallahassee, then shipped down to me). Took me how many years to finally settle on and get a set?

Anyways, I love the kit..very accurate and extremely well made. I didn't do a whole lot today, mainly cause I need to get some supplies, and we were helping another member out to finish his TK. All I really did was add the chest decals and assembled the left forearm.

I gotta say, I was really worried the armor would be a bit small on me, but alot of these pieces appear to fit me precisly..which is kinda awesome.

So here's a shot of everything but the back pack.

Just arrived

Going to get cracking on this starting tomorrow!

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

Well nothing done since yesterday. My buddy has been over and we're going to get cracking on this tomorrow morning. He knows how to sew, so he's gonna be sewing some velcro pieces, like for the gloves, and possibly the duster (where the shoulder bells are positioned)

The following are just my thoughts/notes for what to do, so it's mindless banter lol

Backpack is going to use parachute hooks connected to the chest via overall hooks. Using Nylon for the top shoulder straps and elastic for the sides. I found 2" nylon webbing at Joannes that I'm going to use that instead of the 2" elastic I got originally for the belt/ab plate. figuring having one end of the nylon webbing attached on one side of the innner ab plate, and have velcro on the opposite end that would come in throught the other side for adjustment..

Plan for the cod is to use nylon attached at each side of the inside of the cod, and have an adjustable buckl in the rear, and a strap going underneath as well (like a boba cod) to be accurate. Have it supported by the pant's belt loops.

Knees..1" elastic going across and velcro down the sides or center? May want to add foam? Or maybe one side attached and the other looped through ring w/velcro for adjustment?

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

A good advice is to not assemble the armor parts untill you got the softparts on. This way you modify it to your clothing.

Re: Snowtrooper progress Thread

I just noticed for the first time ever the back side pieces to the forearms. I never seen that before, and I like it. I assume it's canon since Laws is the man. :thumbsup

Im assuming you mean the cuff cup? Yea, I like it alot myself too.

I think I have a good way to solve the issue where the back side (closest to the elbow) tends to float upwards if you dont hold it down tight to your arm. I was thinking of getting one of those larger magnets at Joanne's, attaching one on the inner forearm, and have a free floating magnet inside the sleeve.

We used those to hold up my buddy's boba chest armor, and it works perfectly!
