Smooth primer in a rattle-can?

I was wondering if there was a smooth primer out there. I am well used to sandable primers, but is there a sprat-on rattle-can primer that goes on smooth with no sanding needed.

For detail parts, like the ribbed section of the holo-projectors on R2's head?

The color coat will be rustoleum with an outer coat of auto paint, both rattle-can.

i've done several tests on swatches and compared.
hands down its the little cans of tamiya primer.
super smooth if sprayed from right distance and highly scratch proof. is considering more expensive, but worth it, imo.

Yeah, Tamiya Mr. Primer is the smoothest I have used. I have used it under enamel and lacquer with no problems.

Cool, thanks. This stuff available at craft stores or Hobbytown USA, places like that?

I cannot praise Tamiya's spray paints enough. Quick drying, good levelling, good coverage. Expensive, but so is my time and effort I've put into a model.

Thanks all. Picking some up this weekend to do some color testing on my some of my R2-A6 dome pieces.

I'll post pix of course.
