Sliders: The Original Timer Prop

The Sliders original timer prop is the holy grail of TV props for me - I've always wanted one and have just renewed my obsession by buying Sliders on Amazon Fire TV and watching it all the way through (currently around a few episodes away from the dreadful middle of season 3 when John Rhys-Davies left the show).

Over the past few days, I must have read every thread here on theRPF concerning the Sliders timer from top to bottom for a bit. I'm toying with the idea of making my own Sliders timer prop, but at this time I do not have $500+ to burn on materials and stuff.

Is there a way to spend approximately $100-$150 or so to buy all the parts I need, and program it on my own (complete with all sound effects and GENSER boot sequence) using existing instructions? And if so, are there any circuit boards available with a fully functioning days indicator?

In this thread: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=104308&highlight=sliders there is a guide spoken of that gives you all the information you would ever want on building your own timer prop. But, alas, many of these threads are old and no longer have the files, and/or the sites are gone, and/or the videos are removed. I would love to be able to spend approximately that much and build my own if that's possible.

If anyone could point me in the right direction for finding recent, complete instructions for doing this for the original timer prop (I have absolutely zero interest in the later props and have no idea why they are so plentiful in their instructions. The original timer IS the show...the others are later incarnations during an awful time period during the show's production that I would just as soon prefer to forget...), I would be eternally grateful. Thank you!!!

Hi,

I feel the love for the original timer too. I've got a working circuit board somewhere that I've not gotten around to finishinG, I'll do it one day! To be honest I don't think you'd be able to do it for your budget though, for a start you need to get the correct phone to take apart, plus getting the electronics and finishing parts. They don't come up for sale often, but you'd probably be better waiting for one to come up on ebay as it'll probably go cheap since there's no Slider hype anymore.
