Silent Running Drone: 1/1 Drone 01 Huey

Alright, as I've learned a new 3D printing software tool called 123D Design, I've been re energized in finishing a kit I have stalled on since 2005. It's the Fred Barton Productions Drone kit which is probably long out of production. Not a very good kit for the price either. His stuff was so expensive considering the quality and the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. So, my intention was to always replace all of the parts that attach to the main body with cleaner, more detailed and accurate to the actual prop. Below is my current parts shown in the 3D program. Ive printed a few of them and they are awesome. They need lots of primer and sanding to be smooth enough for painting but that's easy enough.

im interested in trading these pieces for someone to build me a 1/1 metal drone arm. I'm not going to be able to do that one as I don't have the tools or the skill to pull off such a project. Looking for help here? Any takers??

One update. Taking some creative liberty with this. It's the right cowl side flap. I got a couple of screen grabs of the flap opening and used my imagination to fill in the blanks.

Here's some progress on my 3D model as well as my full size drone. This is the highly modified Fred Barton fiberglass body with a few of the parts I've SLA 3d printed a-allied for basic positioning. After 10 years, I feel I'm going to actually complete this little guy.

BrundelFly, thanks for the link. Those 1/4 scale kits looks awesome. I generally collect 1/6 though, so I've long been hoping someone would do 1/6 scale versions.

Some progress shots of the 3D printed parts now incorporated into the drone. I'll be adding more body details and rivets and a few more 3D printed parts and then I can paint the main body. I've added push button switches At the bottom of the computer card slots. When pushed down, one will activate the headlight and the other the faceplate LED's. I'm commissioning a drone arm based on the actual prop. An RPF member will be building that for me as it is outside of my technical capabilities. Then it will be done.

A fun fact—the program cards, when inserted and pushed down actually activate the electronics. One does the headlight, the other does the electric eye on the faceplate. Still waiting on some anodized hose attachments for the legs and my commission for the arm by Teddz which will begin next month. I'll probably be contacting the EMP in Seattle once it is done to see if they are interested in showing it in the future. I'm imagining it would be great if they did a robot exhibition. Huey certainly needs to represent if possible!
