Hey all,
Just added a few new Custom Mannequin Movie Prop Display projects to the site: http://www.TomSpinaDesigns.com
Among those are two pieces of original wardrobe used in Silent Hill: A Miner costume and a Dark Nurse costume. These were for Wesley at Wickedprops.com and we're both really happy with the results.
The Nurse:
If you've seen the movie, you know the Nurses are creepy as heck and have a strange way of moving. I wanted the display to capture that akward/creepy yet sexy vibe.
Wes had the uniform, shoes, hat, knife and mask and wanted a display that had impact but w/o breaking the bank. I sourced a mannequin with a unique pose, modified it to better fit the heavy latex costume and then had my good friend (and amazing airbrush artist) Mike Thomas ( of http://www.KreationX.com ) paint the pale, vascular skintone over the whole thing. I then built a custom base for the piece, trying to emulate aged, grimy, industrial tiles over a warped, stained sub-floor.
In the end, I think she makes an impact... and in the right lighting, she's darn creepy!
Next up, the Miner...
...terrified beneath his mask because his suit is torn to shreds. We modded the mannequin for fit and size, as well as stability, as it's a heavy costume. While you can't see it in the pics, we did some faux blood and gore fx to the mannequin (in case anyone peeks into the tears in the suit). We also created a face insert (complete with custom bloody glass eyes) that fits into the helmet and gives the impression of someone wearing the suit.
His base is the same style as the Nurse, but with fewer cracks and more faux dirt and grime. He's also got a little buggy friend (also an original prop from the film) which just rests on the base... waiting to attack!
No doubt this guy and the Nurse will make a "wicked" pair when Wes displays them together!
As always, thanks for looking and please feel free to stop by the site for pics and info about all of our projects. We update very regularly and you'll find a ton of photos of our sculpture, display and prop restoration work.
Enjoy the pics!
Tom
And a couple of better lit/flash pics from other angles...
