Sideshow Iron Man 1:1 bust-- worth it?

I'm debating starting to save my nickels & dimes to get one of these (MK3 standard paint) after the first of the year. Just wondering if anyone here has one or knows someone who does and would care to give reviews/opinions?

Thanks.

depends on your standards.

I had 3!!!! it got sent back every time because either the paint was terrible or the casting was soft and wavy like it hadnt been seated in the mould correctly.

Play.com actually stopped selling them as they had so many returns.

ask around on the statue forum as there has been plenty of disscussion over there

i canceled my order with play after seeing the amount of ****ty paint jobs and wobbly casts. i have no doubt i would have received one of these duff items, so to save me the hassle i did without.

sideshow have really really let their standards drop recently, im not looking to buy any of their stuff now. the prototype shots don't really resemble what you actually get.

its all thrown together by eight year old chinese kids now.

I must have been lucky as both cast and paint job are great on mine.
I recently received the Mark One Statue with the exclusive unmasked head and think it is one of the best statues Sideshow have turned out.

I second that. My bust is really good and the Mark I is an incredible piece....

I say most definitely YES, IF you get yourself a good one. I recently picked one up off Ebay and the paint is just about perfect. If you go the Ebay route make sure that the seller has opened the box and inspected the bust. You are really taking a chance if you buy one in a sealed box, you have no way of knowing what you are getting.

I don't have a battle damaged version, but I have a customer damaged version. :lol

I love it. I somehow imagined it would be bigger. If RDJ is a small person then it would certainly be plausible and it's possibly smaller than the fanmades.

I understand the paint quality is unpredictable, but if you're not afraid of doing some touchups as needed (which I will do on mine at some point) I think it's a handsome piece to own.

Or wait for the Mark IV bust to come out. :thumbsup

He is actually not that big at all. Approx 5'9" or something...

But I was also thinking of saving up for one.
But for me it's a matter of being able to find a store near by that would carry it.
(As I currently have no way of doing online purchases at this point.)

I've got both the clean and battle damaged versions, and they are great! I had to send the clean version back twice until I got a good one. I even had to send back my first battle damaged one! They are definitely worth it, but be prepared for some back and forth.

RDJ is 5'8". There were a lot of boxes on set for the scenes between him and Gwennie. I have the first version of the SSC Iron Man 1:1 and it came pristine (thank the Lord) but I don't have any of the others, I didn't pay SSC's prices but got it through an AD so I would say its definitely worth it if you can get a good one.
