Hi guys,

Just wondering if the people who bought a totokia from Wampa have some pics to share... I would love to see them finished...

I'd also love to hear how you painted and weathered it... (I'm going to start assembling nd painting mine and any advise would be really appreciated = what paints did you use, how did you weathered it et etc)

Thanks.

I've got a few pics!

Here's the sale page on these (with a few pics) - http://web.mac.com/bluesnal/iWeb/totokia/totokia.html

And here are some more shots of the one I finished for my Tusken statue...

The finish was super-quick. Primer, a little medium brown Krylon and a smear of thinned down very dark brown acrylic (just wiped on and off with a rag). I hit it with a little Krylon clear coat just to protect it.

I'd love to see everyone else's pics on these.

I don't have any good pics of mine, but I can tell you how I painted it.

I also just spray painted a layer of primer, then a coat of med brown spray paint, for the dark brown I custom mixed a dark brown out of cheap craft paints and painted it on quick and ugly with a stiff haired brush until I was happy with the grain look. I didn't weather the "wood" section at all since I couldn't think of a good way to do it.

For the metal mace end I used one of Ft. Tusken's fantastic metal mace ends. I weathered the crap out of it with a chemical from "Sophisticated Finishes" (you can find it at most craft stores) that actually rusts metal called "Rust antiquing solution". It looks and feels real...because it is real rust. It is nearly instant to rust any metal (that rusts, you can't rust aluminum) instead of waiting what might be years for nature to do it.

I will try to get some pics of the thing tommorrow.

Great, thanks for the answers...

Just one question... how did you glued the Ft. Tusken's metal mace ends to the wood end ?? the diameter of my mace end is a little bigger, so I think I should fill the gap with something, but not 100% sure how yet... (maybe some kind of epoxy ??? )

Thanks, and those pics would be really nice :D

I used Gorilla glue to attach the mace end to the dowel. According to the uses on the glue it seemed like the best match (for use on wood and metal). So far it has held on really well, and I troop with my so it's not like it is just sitting at home on a shelf. I will have some pics shortly. I got them taken today and just need to upload them. If I don't get it done tonight I will get them tomorrow.

As promised here are some pics of mine. I noticed that in any light except bright sunlight you can't see the wood grain on mine. Also the paint I used has started to chip off the resin so those spots of bright brownish pink is the resin showing through. Also there is a pic of the weathred mace end.

Hey Predator, GREAT pics... I really like them...

I love how you rusted the mace end... looks perfect... IT's a pity I cant find something like that "Rust antiquing solution" where I live :(, it's a pity, I'll keep on searching but I'm affraid I will have to paint it with acrylics, :(.

Once again, thanks for the pics, and if any other want to share their pics, c'mon, dont be shy !!! (I'll post mine when I finish it ).

Benkenove where are you located? If you are in the US I can probally pick some up and send it to you. If your not I don't know how customs would be about sending sending chemicals to you...
