I'll have to check thatl ink out when the storm passes. I'd LOVE to have a life sizes Johnny five with light up eyes, but I imagine a full thing of custom parts costing near $2,000's

More like $2000 per square foot.

Yeah. The cheapest scratch-built R2 units are around $2000, with the all-metal ones starting over $10000. A J5 bot, with it's more complex servos and actuators is gonna be steep.
