shipping prop guns question

I have a couple of prop movie guns, made entirely of dense rubber, non-functional but look like the real thing. If I ship them to states that have strict gun laws, will there be any problems shipping them since they have the appearance of the real version, or is it fine since it's just a piece of molded rubber? Thanks!

I assume it will be fine, my grandfather shipped me his working M1 Carbine post 9/11 and there were no problems.

Are you shipping internationally? If so there may be different restrictions/regulations.

Get some orange tape and put it on the barrel if you worry about it and it shouldn't be any different then shipping airsoft guns.

You should have no problem at all.
I shipped MANY airsoft guns and I never had a problem with them.
If they ask what it is, just say it is a toy. NEVER EVER say gun. I don't care if you say airsoft gun, toy gun, etc...anything gun. Anything with a gun and they will start questioning you like crazy....

If you're scared, just grab some orange tape and then wrap the front of the barrel like what Malphas said and it should be fine.

Even through all the airsoft guns I shipped had no orange tape, they all got through fine.

Thanks all, appreciate the help. I plan on only shipping in the United States. Also, does the shipping carrier matter too, is it better to use the USPS Post Office, UPS, FedEx, etc. I have an interested buyer in New York City, are any of you aware if there might be any legal issues that would cause it to be a problem to ship it there? Thank you!

You don't have to declare what it is on the box US address to US address. I would recommend you don't put anything but the label and a couple fragile stickers the outside of the box. Also, you may want to add a piece of paper to the shipment on the inside of the box just in case it gets open for any possible reason. the note to read... "this fake item is a FULLY INERT HAND-PROP> IT IS NON-FUNCTIONAL, IT IS NON-FIRING and CAN NEVER BE MODIFIED TO FIRE, COMPLETELY 100% RUBBER - It is movie Memorabilia & for Entertainment purposes only"... or something along those lines. Add your name and phone number to call with any questions. Nothing is going to happen just pack it with some stability as long as it doesn't inadvertently open there really is no reason for them to open it... it has a metal armature and sling mounts at most.
