I want to adjust the angle of the helmet dome so it sits more accurately.

I can't find the topic in which this was discussed.

Can someone help me?

I dont know know what thread your talking about ,but isnt the dome about 1cm away from the face?

DARTH ANIBAL has a good step by step rubies dome mount mod image set over on sithtrainingtemple.com in the helmet section

he has perhaps posted it here also, any way it will provide you with all you need if its not here stt is worth a join for any vader builder

That tutorial is excellent. I did the same for my Rubies Supreme fiberglass recast (now sold) and it makes a helluva lot of difference. No cutting of the faceplate or the dome required, just some mouse pad and velcro and voila.

wasnt it DA that also posted the tutorial on STT for cuttin alonside the top mount on mask, bending it down to desired angle, the glueing it in place again?

that resulted in a very low dome in the back. i think he used a plastic weld glue stuff that actually bonded the plastic back together after the reposition.

the mount stays uncut in the front just gets cut along sides and just enough around to front to allow you to push it down in back.

It's ran by Gypsyboy.

Anyway, here's the excerpt of the tutorial posted on the STT by Darth Malevalus, based on tips from Darth Anibal:

"RSV dome mount repositioning,

You will need scissors, heavy duty velcro, and a mouse pad. Maybe even some adhesive. No cutting of the mask, or dome is needed. So those of us with completed masks including those expensive paint jobs need not fret. We can do this too...

OK so here we go..

1. This shows the bigger piece of velcro I stuck on the forehead. It helps in stabilizing the whole thing once it's mounted better than the smaller piece Rubies' went with.

2. On the front of the "mounting post" go without the velcro. This allows you to mount the dome with a little more freedom to do what you want and not catch it on that front part.

3. On the top of the "mounting post" I went with another big piece of velcro. This will connect to a piece of velcro in the dome's "female" end.

4. What I did to get good contact between the male and female ends was cut a cheap mousepad into the size and shape of the patch of velcro and adhere velcro to that so it would stick to both (did you get that?)

5. This is what I'm talking about in #4.

6. There's the velcro in the female end. One piece on top of another to make sure I get good contact.

7. Slide the "mounting post" into the female end making contact at the top, then bring the face up until the forehead velcro makes contact...

8. ...like this

9. Your dome should now totally cover the back of your neck, and sit something like this.

10. See the steeper angle along the bottom of the dome flare?

Excellent. I am going to get another Rubies as a project helmet so Ill try this out. I especially like that you don't need to cut the face or dome.

Hello all. Chiming in here. I came up with that tutorial because, at the time, I only had the Rubies' helmet I had already gotten painted, and I didn't want to do anything to ruin it. Since then, I decided to just get me another one and start over (I wish I could've landed that $9.99 deal.). It works if you don't want to do any cutting, and it does improve the angle at which the dome sits a bit, but I've come to the conclusion that if you really want the desired effect, you're gonna have to do some cutting. I have a thread going on my current project that FalconV8 posted a link to: http://www.therpf.com/index.php?showtopic=115012&hl= showing what I'm doing now. It's AMAZING what the dome placement does to the whole look of the Rubies'. Here's a new pic with the "skateboard helmet" mod I'm working on:

Believe it or not, the dome is sitting directly on the skateboard helmet, and it fits PERFECTLY.

Yeh sorry about any delays in registration on STT atm one of our head admins has a very ill father ill see if i can get it sorted out for yas

well worth a join for any vaders tbh

Really great work. I can't wait to see how this turns out. I've got a Rubies Vader sitting on a shelf that's screaming to be fixed up.

I know, I know... this thread is 13+ years old... but can anyone else elaborate on the "No Cutting" method of shifting the dome on the Rubies Supreme Vader helmet? Without the pictures available anymore, I can't quite understand/follow the steps that include mounting the mouse pad, etc.
