Hey all,
Just sharing this with ya.
I was at my local Ren Faire over the weekend, and while sitting at table to have some food, I met a cool dude who was donning a full Trooper armor and helmet.
I introduced myself and politely asked him who built his armor/helm, and he gladly replied it was a Shepperton.
I was excited to see a Shepperton in person, and he had taken off his helmet already.
He asked me if I knew Shepperton, which of course I said yes, but I've never seen one, and that I've been collecting RS Propmaster pieces.
He lit up too, as he never saw one of theirs, but knew of them as well.
He handed me the helm to look over, and upon inspecting, I was surprised to see it was built EXACTLY like RS's, with exception of the mic tips are glued in on the front, rather than screwed in like RS.
The helmet pad was the same design, just a little smaller and thinner and diff color.
But after having experienced holding and getting used to the feel of the RS's, the Shepperton was NOTICEABLY cheaper feeling...by far.
It did not have any of the actual prop surface detail like RS ( paint brushstrokes...little bump on forehead, etc ).
It was a smooth clean surface.
And the details were all decals...not hand painted.
I wish I got pictures, but he was just sitting down to eat, as was I, and it was enough to take his time as I did.
So....that's my take on a Shepperton, and of course, seals the deal of ever having wanted to have one, just to have.
Nope....I'm good with my RS's! : )
