Far as spelling errors on props, check the cover of Inara's "Privileges & Principals of Companion" book or "Shepard Book"s Ident card.
I printed a Book Ident card, typo and all, and had Ron Glass sign it.
As Tif said earlier those are REAL props.
A classic example of 'unusual spelling' is this:

If you buy a replica prop and it's been sanitised and corrected and straightened it's not a replica prop anymore, its an interpretation.
Now i fully accept that a lot of real props close-up look appalling! (I am lucky to own a couple of original props myself) and perhaps some interpretation HAS to take place, sometimes from a safety aspect.
Mistakes and weathering and scratches and dents, if they appear on the real prop just add to the authenticity IMHO.
