Anybody else read QMx Insider 2.0, or am I the only one signed-up for e-mail updates? :lol

If you haven't read it yet, check this out (a nice update to the site layout, too):

QMx is releasing Serenity's ship papers, and they will be on sale August 25th (6PM EDT). $119.95 is a little pricy, I thought, but hey; that's how much Whitefall's original wallet + papers go for these days (roughly), but it is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide, so I guess that explains the price.

If I have the money around that time I'll buy a set.

I knew it!!!! I knew it!!!

also they are rerelasing the blueprints to serenity but in a scaled down size.....

personalized BSG dogtags.........

this is going to be interesting

YEAH!!

More paper products from QMx!!

No mention of the Mal pistol in that release eh? :rolleyes

From the new QMX site:

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds’ Sidearm
Doing the impossible
Yes, that’s right. We are doing the Mal Pistol replica. And we’re busy making it better. Better, you ask? Yes, faster, stronger, um, available. Stay tuned. All we can say is it’ll be worth the wait.

I saw that, too. I just want some more pictures of it with the stand, plaque, etc., so I can decide whether to put some money aside for it or not!

I'm actually looking forward to the ship papers. Though I'm getting tired of waiting on the pistol.

There's only so many times people can say the same things over and over and over until they annoy even themselves. I, for one, am appreciating the mature attitudes being displayed, with regard to restraint being demonstrated.

hunh... they used the Tam's real names in the passenger roster. That'll be fun on their next stop. :)

Kaylee,

Good point - that was actually a tough call. After some discussion, we decided to leave the real names even though Mal clearly wouldn't have done that. Since that sheet is intended as a place to get BDH autographs, we thought it would be cooler to have the real character names listed. And "cool" is one of the things we were going for.

Simon and River will just have to shoot it out with any Alliance goons they run into. But after the Reavers, I don't think that'll be a problem.

so whitefall can you confirm that , on aug 25th that these WILL BE IN STOCK? or are these just a preorder vaporware?

No, these are paper so they'll be in stock. QMx does paper very well.

(The leather wallet will be out for re-tooling until next year though due to supplier disputes.)

Yup, I can confirm that they're in stock now, and wrapped for shipping.

Mlarson007 - I wanted to say "thanks" for picking up the previous set! Although several pages look similar in teeny-tiny thumbnail mode, I actually rebuilt every single page from scratch. Serenity graphic designer Geoffrey Mandel was generously offering input, so he had a lot of suggestions to maintain the look, feel and detail of the 'Verse. (Not to mention source art which I gleefully swapped in for the stuff I was using.)

There's also new material that was a blast to do, like the Beaumonde decon ticket. (Although that "neural warning" freaks me out.)

Which is, I believe, what makes this a Serenity prop and not a Firefly one. The ships' paper set from Firefly was just some stock legal-looking documents wrapped in a leather holder. It was never intended to be seen closeup so they didn't bother making new sheets. Whitefall's excellent replica duplicated the look and made it more 'verse-ready, but that's all. The new version has been completely redone with documents designed specifically for it, with (as the man said) input from the movie's graphic designer. And Whitefall really stretched himself this time, the pages look fantastic.
