I've looked high and low and have pulled out my hair.
Basically what I need is some really small hardware.

socket cap screws: just over 2mm head diameter, takes 1mm hex key

flat head socket screws: just over 3mm head diameter, 1mm hex key

Try some model railroad sites. There are companies that specializes in small scale nuts and bolts.

I was thinking exactly the same thing as Snag. There was a hobby shop around the corner from me when I lived in Tucson that had a huge selection of model RR stuff, and they had some really small hardware.

Also might try any place that repairs watches on site. I used to work for one (Precision Time) and we always had lots of tiny screws of all kinds.

Thanks guys. Think I might be having some luck from smallparts.com at least on the first two screw types. Even tougher still is finding anyone who carries a .9 mm hex key ...

It wouldnt be a .9 mm Matt, think imperial and your there! If its for a walker, also, dont go with metric, there all wrong buddy.

Ill try find the seller if i have him saved, but theres a guy on Ebay i got a bundle of imperial hardware from...mainly for RC car use, but also for the walkers.

Do share! :lol

I've got these guys pretty much nailed for the legs. 0.1275 inches (3.24mm) head diameter, probably a .9mm hex. That works out to my dimensions.

This stuff is hard to work out.. we get the overall length, the thread size, but most of the sites for mini hardware have no mention of the hex size and head diameters, the stuff I really care about. :)

Best source I have found for parts like that are old computers. Take apart an old burned out hard drive or even better, a burned out computer CD drive. You will be amazed at the parts you can pull from them.

Just ripped apart an old cd-rom drive and a cd-burner.. There's some cool stuff in there! Unfortunately none of the screws I'm looking for though. I'm pretty happy the first two are crossed off though, I also located the right hex key.

If you have any near you, check out Ace Hardware. They had small as hell hex screws last time I checked at the one here. I had to use them for a VK build a few weeks ago, and I got some small ons, but there was even smaller parts there. It suprised me to see such "oddities" at a hardware store, usually small parts like that are at places mentioned here.

If you dont have any luck, I could go there and report back here if you want me to pick some things up.

Let me know

Marshall's in San Diego might be worth a try. www.marshallshardware.com

8423 Production Ave
San Diego, CA 92121

They have rows and rows of hardware. I've never looked for as small as you are tho', but won't assume they don't have it and not speak up here.

Good luck in your search!

McMaster Carr is always my first choice, though if you are in So. Cal (not sure where you are, maybe not in the US?) There is a place I go called "Luky's Hardware" that deals in surplus nuts and bolts and they have a great selection and lots of tiny hardware like you are looking for.
They are in Burbank on Burbank Blvd.
Out of curiosity, what are these for? Some people here seem to know...

Gold mine! Awesome, Thank you! :thumbsup

Yep I'm in the U.S., on the other side of the country though. :) The ROTJ scout walkers use some extremely small hardware on the legs. I thought it would be an easy find at first, but it proved a little more difficult than I anticipated.
