SDS Stormtrooper Armor and Helmets

Sds

Ok, confession time. After my duct tape cardboard ST circa 1978, years passed before I found a little ad in the back of Starlog in 1990. I sent for the Marco catalog. It took me a year to save up for the ST armor and I sent for it only to get a letter that I needed to send another $40 because of a price increase. Two weeks later I had my pride and joy, a bright shiny set of Marco ST armor. I wore that set until it was stolen out of my garage in 97. All kidding aside the Marco / FX is great trooping armor especially when weathered for Sandtrooper with a more accurate helmet. At the time is was the best out there. Thank god (or Al Gore) for the internet for connecting all the knowledge. Got a set of the TE high sheen stuff. Would love to get a set of AP and Desert it out.

Marco was a hell of a lot more accurate than cardboard and duct tape and definitely more accurate than the Don Post commercial crap.

For the doubters...

Can you post a picture that beyond a shadow of a doubt proves it?
Wait, I already know the answer. It's no, because they all do and I'm the only one who knows why. Not even so called experts have a clue about this.

I hear crickets chirping....maybe an owl far off in the distance...

Come to the costume/prop panel at C4 and you will see one such picture. Not in the presentation, but in the audience. No fakes, no hoarding. You will see it with your own eyes. Anyone else who would like to see is welcome.

Wish I could be there. Always cool to see new variations on the helmets that appear to have a million variations. Also glad to see this group SHARING something with the public at large instead of just telling them about it! (y)thumbsup

Sorry to hear that you won't be at C4.

Since you are not going, you should contact 'he who can't be mentioned'. :)

Yeah... it is unfortunate, but such is life.

In regard to writing Matt, the last few times he has felt the urge to contact me was mainly to make hollow threats and swear a lot about how I am going to get mine... whatever that means... and I have little interest in pretending to grovel for scraps from his so-called table as he would love see now that he feels he has something I would want.

If another helmet has been IDed, then that can be nothing but a good thing for the community. If it is another sandtrooper, that is even better (I am partial to them.) If it is Davin, well to me that is even better still as I think he is particularly cool. If it has no surface texture as all the others ones we have seen so far appear to have, that will be particularly interesting and give everyone yet another variation of helmet to choose from. Every helmet that surfaces can only serve to help the trooper community and if pictures are shared of this one, then I will be very impressed because it will be a first. If not... ehh... we lived without it before and will live without it now. I have made my point again and again about put up or shut up as I think sharing (not egos, swaggering, and expounding on ones own greatness) is what makes the prop community a great place. If Matt has gotten access to another helmet, has pictures, and is planning to share them at C4, I commend him for sharing as I would anyone who shares and does not horde. To me, it would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Ask and you shall recieve :lol

Thank you :lol anyone replying to this thread must now unnecessarily quote this GIF.

In the SDS threads I always pull out this size comparisson pic... to keep the lawers happy. Notice the thickness of the neck on the screen used. The neck is flared and bulbous. Too large for the head almost.
