I thought this might be a good location for this. There is a 7 part series of interviews featuring Bill Merklein. He sculpted close to 70 of the G.I.Joe Real American Heroes toy figures along with many other things.
He also did/does kit pieces ,such as , tanks and other military items from. Very Informative interviews about sculpting techiques, the process , materials used and other behind the scene items.
He used Plumbers putty/materials to sculpt the G.I.Joe figures for hasbro.
He also sculpted toys from Krull, COPS, Tribes, The VISA dove , the 1984 hologram image on the National Geographic is his sculpture. He is a legend in the field and I thought it would be something others would like to listen to.
