Just wanted to update about the auction. An update was sent out about the upcoming "test" this Saturday. Here is that info:

ScreenUsed Practice Auction - One Day Auction - ScreenUsed - San Jose California

In anticipation of our auction on November 3, we are holding a fake practice auction a week earlier on October 27, 2012 at 10am PDT. This will give everyone a chance to register, login, and bid on some items that we made up. No need to worry because it will not cost you anything at all! For the first time ever, you can bid as high as you would like without any repercussions from your friends and family.

The intention of this fake auction is to allow everyone to test out their network access and system configuration before the live auction on November 3rd. If you have issues getting into the auction, the phone number for iCollector support is 1-866-313-0123, so that you can call them during the auction. We will keep the auction open for a few hours to provide time for anyone having issues to hopefully work through them. Each item will be up for bidding quite a while, and we may even go back and reopen some a second time for fun.

To prepare ahead of time, here is a link to the system requirements on the iCollector website (copy and paste in your browser address line):

I also thought it would be fun to go thru 10 items or so that I thought were kind of cool and give them some background, some insight into the items and maybe a guess at what the final bid price would be all in the name of fun.

I started yesterday on thepropstop with of course Herbies keys and today I did some digging into the Klingon costume and revealed more details about the actors, the episodes and some possible hidden information under stickers not pulled to check whats underneath.

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 2) Lot 320 Klingon costume & mask | the propstop's world of entertainment memorabilia

I think I can be of help here…at least with the names inside the costume…so lets have a closer inspection of these from the auction site.
14358379_4.jpg

First up we have a Star Trek 6 head….which has just been placed with it for completeness. The costume wasn’t one used in that from the tags or the style. The head could have been obtained from its a wrap: the trek auctions and they have sold anywhere between $500-3,000 in the past. There are closeup versions and slightly further away but they are all a little different with beards etc that are made along with wigs in a varied manner. The thing to watch with these is the thin foam…fingerprints and oil will dissolve this kind of foam away over time…and once it starts it won’t stop.
So interior tag time..lets visit these. First up Bob Minor. His information appears below.
Borak.jpg

Bob Lee Minor (born 1 January 1944; age 68) is a stuntman, stunt actor, and stunt coordinator who played Bo’rak in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Visionary” and served as Michael Dorn‘s stunt double in the episode “Soldiers of the Empire“. He received no on-screen credit for his latter appearance.
I would say this looks to be that very costume Bo’rak from the above especially when compared with the DS9 tag.
14358379_6.jpg

Next we have the name Patrick Barnitt on a piece of tape….tape which I have seen a number of times in Star Trek uniforms…especially boots and pieces of armor.
Patrick Barnitt (sometimes misspelled as Patrick Barritt) (born 23 May 1967; age 45) is an actor who played several background characters in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. He also appeared as a Borg in Star Trek: First Contact and was one of the stand-ins for Patrick Stewart on Star Trek: Insurrection, in the exodus scene. He received no on-screen credit for his appearances. Best known for his performances as a Borg, Barnitt appeared in all, but two major Borg episodes of Voyager. His trousers from the episode “Stigma” were sold off on the It’s A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay and previously worn by Jason Alexander in the Voyager episode “Think Tank“. [1] His costumes from the episodes “Innocence[2] and “Unity[3] were also sold off.

This looks like the costume Barnitt wore in “VOYAGER: Prophecy” as a background Klingon.

These gauntlets definately have another name under the tape so I ask you Screenused…please lift it and see whose name is under there!
Matthew James Williamson is an actor who made three Star Trek appearances across two Star Trek series in 2001.
He had previously appeared in Woody Allen’s 1990 comedy Alice, which also had Keye Luke in its cast. In 1999, Williamson co-starred with John Fleck in a film called Swap Meet. He also guest-starred on Alias and ER and appeared in the made-for-TV Helter Skelter remake in 2004. This latter project also featured Robert Costanzo, Robert Joy, Robert Pine, and Keith Szarabajka.
Matthew_James_Williamson%2C_Endgame.jpg

I put money on this one being from “Voyager:Endgame”..just the gauntlets sadly as the costume isn’t the same.
So…whats it worth. Well it has a bid on now for $3500 and I see no reason why it shouldnt end at $5,000 for such a nice example. Klingon costumes have sold in the past few years as low as $2,000 and as high as $10,000 so anything is possible although this does have no boots.

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 3) Neo’s coat from “Matrix trilogy” | the propstop's world of entertainment memorabilia

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 3) Neo’s coat from “Matrix trilogy”
Posted on October 24, 2012

Wow….this article if I wanted could go on a VERY long time. You see I absolutely love the original film. I remember walking out of the cinema in Chicago and just being so blitzed by the celluloid that I was jabbering about all the ins and outs of the movie, the whyfors and howz your fathers. It just crept up on us literally with little advertising, and no spoilers to the point that few people couldn’t help but love this movie if you were a card carrying geek.

When Neo flew into the camera at the end of the first film, few saw the left hook coming that eventually hit them.

Flash forward to now, and that first film has been tarnished by the sequels, and a classic point in how to take a product and reduce it down to its components but basically lose the flavor that you had originally…like a bad wine sauce!

Now being a Warner bros movie up until Backlot props joined us in 2007/2008 very little had dribbled out of their archive. This changed overnight when David Brandon managed to cut inside one of the few companies that had been holding onto their stuff, immediately bringing Babylon 5, V, The Last Starfighter, Last Samurai, Superman, and the Martrix items to the market.

Comicon 2008 picture

Screenused catalog description:

(Warner Bros. Pictures, 2003) According to an interview with Dan Bronson, the Costume Supervisor on the film, “…the coat that Keanu [Reeves, Neo] wears is made in seven different fabrics for very specific different scenes, due to the way each fabric flows and moves.” This particular coat is a flowing weave type cloth that was used in various scenes of the movie. This coat was made for the character “Neo”, and worn on screen by Chad Stahelski, the martial arts stunt coordinator and stunt double for Keanu Reeves. Inside is handwritten “CS 2″, for Chad Stehelski. The coat is in overall good screen used condition with dirt stains around the bottom and small nylon tag hooks holding up the sleeve cuffs. The coat may have been used in both The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, as they were filmed back to back.

I agree that chances are high this costume was used in both movies….although there were a huge amount of this coat made for the various sequences involved in shooting. This being a stunt coat it may have slight differences over the hero pieces. Here is an article about the making of this coat:

(WarnerBros., 2003) According to an interview on whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com with Dan Bronson, the Costume Supervisor on the film, “…the coat that Keanu [Reeves, “Neo”] wears is made in seven different fabrics for very specific different scenes, due to the way each fabric flows and moves.” This particular coat has a special coating of rubber dots and was built to hold water for the final fight scene, so that it splashed when fighting. It is also extra long and wide on the back for scenes where they wanted Neo’s coat to flow open like a cape. In the 10 disc Ultimate Matrix Collection set, DVD #9, The Burly Man Chronicles, starting at 7 minutes 45 seconds in shows and discusses this particular coat material. Stuntman and Martial Arts Stunt Coordinator Chad Stahelski demonstrates the water retention of the coat, and they discuss “how the material looks like water droplets”. The coat is in great screen used condition, with some wear particularly on the top half where many of the dots are missing. There is also what looks like mud staining around the bottom of the coat from screen use. The top half of the coat has a mesh material with the rubber dots attached, which sits on top of another layer of material. The back, arms, and from the waist down is one layer of material with the rubber dots. The inside of the jacket is completely lined in black silk.

Of these jackets that have come up before this one sold for $30,000 at Profiles in December 2007. Heritage auction galleries sold a similar one in 2010 for less than $5,000.

Interestingly Profiles sold another Matrix piece worn by Carrie Ann Moss for $32,500 in 2012, proving that they still have muscle over there competition.

So what will happen with Screen used? I predict an unsold at $10,000. We will see…being most of there items are tiered towards the mid range market is this too expensive?

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 4) “Predator 1 & 2″ netting, disc and blade | the propstop's world of entertainment memorabilia

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 4) “Predator 1 & 2″ netting, disc and blade
Posted on October 25, 2012

Kevin Peter Hall as one of cinemas greatest monster creations

An outstanding piece. Why no one has bid on this three way splittable lot is confusing too me…unless you all recognise its awesomeness and won’t bid till the last minute. That I suspect!

Here is the description:

(Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, 1987) These pieces were custom made for the production for use as part of the Predator’s costume. The pieces consist of a rubber gauntlet blade with metal rod used to attach the blade to the costume, a rubber throwing disk that was attached by Velcro to the thigh of the costume and a section of body netting. This set was used as part of the costume for stunt work during filming. Note that the disc was most likely used in the second Predator movie.

For some examples of items sold in the past we look to the proparchives for a couple of examples.

This aluminium blade sold in July 2012 at Profiles in History for $2250 from P2

This disc from the first movie sold at Christies in 1996 for $3220.

The only problem I see with this piece is the huge amount of replicas out there of it…but to be honest this is screenused, comes with the netting and claw and so I think $1,000 is a great price to begin at.

I think that the ending bid will be $1500.

I want to like this Predator lot but the gaff on the disc just makes me scratch my head. I do like that Desi is adding updates and corrections and they are now saying the disc MAY be from P2.

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 6) Lot 86 Chronicles of Riddick Hero Necromonger Rifle | the propstop's world of entertainment memorabilia

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 6) Lot 86 Chronicles of Riddick Hero Necromonger Rifle
Posted on October 28, 2012

I’ve really come around on this film from totally hating it at the initial viewing in the theatre to having a grudging liking for it. The costumes and guns are mostly very cool but the sheer volume of stuff at first was very overwhelming. I wonder how many more of these Propstore has to sell….

This gun is described as following:

(Universal Pictures, 2004) This Necromonger rifle was custom made for the production for use by various actors and is a hero “light-up” version used for close-up shots of the working light effect. The rifle is designed with a cracking light effect built into the prop that is an incredible practical effect. The rifle also breaks down into a pistol and houses two 9volt batteries in a small compartment that power the light effect. This is a very rare working hero prop from the now cult film. The rifle is presented on a custom wood base for display. Measures 19.5″ in length.

As you can see with the lights and the beautiful stand this prop makes a case for itself.

I don’t know much about the makers. If you do chime in. Id love to know as they really are beautiful works of art.

The end cost to own this…..probably about $1200.

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 210) John Locke Canadian passport | the propstop's world of entertainment memorabilia

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 210) John Locke Canadian passport
Posted on October 30, 2012

Hmm…well this rocketed up the charts today to number 2 in the most clicked on items of the auction. Why? I can’t say…either the seller did it (lol) or a news item appeared on a Lost forum. Almost as mysterious as the show in fact…..

Here is the description:

(ABC, 2004-2010) John Locke’s Canadian passport (5″H x 3.5″L – closed, 7″H x 5″L – opened) with a navy-blue vinyl cover with “Canada” and “Passport – Passeport” printed in gold and featuring within the passport number #150000001328, the name Jeremy Bentham, the issue date of 12 Dec. 07, date of birth of 15 Feb 48, place of birth as NY, NY USA, and the color photograph of actor Terry O’Quinn wielded during the season 5 episode of “Lost” (2004-2010), “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham.” The storyline allows that while using this alias, Locke attempts to locate each member of the Oceanic Six and convince them to return to the island, where they were previously marooned following the crash of Oceanic flight 815. Acquired from ABC Television via the Profiles in History auction. Includes a copy of the original Studio COA.

Im not sure if this is from the LOST auction or not as I couldn’t find it when I did a search but according to the listing it has an ABC coa, so perhaps I missed it. Its a shame that so much trouble went into these paper props as I discovered when going thru the catalog at the original auction and matching them to the screen many of them didn’t receive a lot of time on the show. This lot also includes a cereal bar made by Dharma that was not with this lot originally.

Frankly I think this is kinda expensive at 4k so unfortunately I think it may end up being unsold, but as usual, thats just my opinion.

For a better LOST item check out Screenused.coms website for a Virgin Mary from LOST. Now thats a cool item.

The Best of Screenused.Coms auction 3rd November on Icollector.com (Day 8) Star Trek Bridge panel
Posted on November 1, 2012

Expensive at $2500 but who wouldnt want a panel from the bridge of the E…….especially as this one has the “E” on it! Multiple times!

I have always loved these things and with computer technology abundant I think we will see less and less of this old school work. Bottom line is this is a beautiful panel, probably in my top 3 of all that I have ever seen. Im not sure the bottom picture here is actually showing the panel but as always one tends to have to look at the movie to find these things.

There has been so many different versions of these panels sold over the years and priced between $100 and $5000 or more.

If you win it consider me jealous!

Here is one of my very favorite evers from Profiles. Sold for $8500!

From Rikers station…seen in just about every episode I suspect.

Reserve: $2500

My opinion: worth every penny but its gonna be right about there with commision. $2500.
