Still only one gauntlet posted. It was 3D scanned then converted to a printable model off this one which was then mirrored and 3D printed. I'll see about posting up some pics of the prints later today.
Ok finally had a few. Here are the prints which were the result of Kens awesome work, a 3D scan then a rebuild and making it printable from my Twin Brother Curtis. We printed it, mirrored it and printed again done in house with the new Makerbot. Then the pieces were plastic welded together so I have 2 perfect copies of the original to master. Oh and all the drive/motivation and cash laid out by Kev.
Yeah doing the 3D work in ZBrush Maya/Max and learning how to make it all work with the 3D printer in a week was a good learning experience. But they turned out well for a base . They should be pretty accurate by the time they are finished
Been a long journey with many important hands involved but these beauties are pretty much ready to mold. Separate trap doors attach with strong rare earth magnets and fins are inset for a secure hold.
Well I was wrong...not ready to mold. :lol Our special kind of OCD kicked in and we decided to revisit the attachment of the door. Weren't convinced the magnets would be a strong enough hold. So some research revealed how the movie ones were done and Finhead went to work replicating that exactly. And here it is. Simple, effective, and an incredibly strong hold. Oh and most importantly - screen accurate.
