Scratch Built WAR MACHINE ARMOR !!! (Iron Man 2) WIP

Re: Scratch Built WAR MACHINE ARMOR (Iron Man 2) WIP

Hey Cardboard King, love the armor. A dumb question for you. You are cardboard king, are you using cardboard>bondo>sand>paint as your build method here? I'm considering an armor type build for myself and a friend for PAX and am considering returning to cardboard and using a similiar method to do the build.

Thats not a dumb question. I have been using Foam Core Board for this build. I know I'm the Cardboard King, but foam board is good to use because its light, thick, and works well with hot glue. The down side is that you have to protect to foam core from fiberglass because the resin will eat it away. I bondo or tape off the ends to face that problem.

For me its more like Bondo > Sand > fiberglass > Sand > Paint = A Work Of Art :lol

I've seen some of your work over on the 405th awesome stuff. How were you able to get the glass in those tight spots? Did you use a mat instead of a cloth?

Ok everyone I just came back from a mini vacation. It was Me and my wife's 2 year wedding anniversary.

I wanted to post these pix up before I left, but I forgot. Here are the legs. They are ready to be bondoed and fiber glassed.

Hi guys, this is my first time posting in the RPF, though I have been around for a few days viewing some threads. Some caught my eye like *cough*cardboard man*cough* and *big loud cough*masterle*even louder cough*
I normally do not praise people because
1)it gets to their head
2)they really think they're that good, when i just wanted to motivate them

However, I really would like commend cardboard man and master le on their works. What's that word? Breath-taking? Yep!

WOW, master le just accepted my friend request on facebook!

Alright, on to the serious stuff now.(Do not get me wrong, I was serious about the compliments as well:lol)
I'm from Singapore and I have not seen any War Machines or Iron Man walking around on the streets...yet.:love So after a long time considering the pros and cons of making the suit, I have decided to actually make a War Machine or Iron Man MKV suit. Problem I have now is 'How do I go about it?' :confused
I have seen people talking about making molds and casts but to be honest, I do not have an idea what they are talking about. Anyone can help me out here?

Hey Cardboard King, I saw your work also on the 405th and being new to this I was thinking of Pepakura, but your method seems like something that I could do better because I cannot fold a paper to make a paper plane, yes I am that bad. I was wondering if you could go over your method with me as I have never used any of tese materials, and most of all where do you get the designs and how do you go about sizing them properly. Master Le's work is EPIC to say the least but I must say I am liking your War Machine better, I have seen a couple of Suits but yours and his are the most PRO looking in my opinion.

Amazing work. I wish I had 1/10 the skill and precision you do. I will be embarking on my own War Machine build soon, I'm currently working on an arc reactor that will actually work as a power supply for the suit (mask, reactor and other moving parts). I look forward to seeing the suit when it's finished.
