I just saw this thread...so thought I had better chime in.
For starters...this issue was already laid to bed some time ago. To the point that even the MODs were involved. It seems to raise its head every time the Bos is mentioned lol
One way or another Marsattack becomes agitated for perceived wrongs he suffered in what he calls our "partnership."
Here's the skinny.
Mars agreed to put up most if not all the initial costs to make the prototype. He thought it a good idea and believed I had the skill to pull off my side of the work.
My contribution was that I spent 11 months of my time and wrote a good 97% of the BoS apart from screen seen pages. I also garnered not only most of the artwork and inserts through research and contacts but permission from a few forum celebrities I approached to contribute some of their work as inserts. Two of whom are well known artists.
Fast forward to the run happening.....people are happy. Mars and I are slapping each other on the back and all is good.
Next scene: I relate to Marsattack on the phone one day (We live in different states, the BOS was created via email, phone-calls and post) that I have made a great deal to secure myself a sideshow endoskull for $300 which the owner agreed to let me pay off over some months. At the time I was an industrial cleaner and didn't make that big a salary.
Mars is secretly insulted that I am doing this and not helping him foot the BoS costs (needless to say he's buying a set of metal aliens marine armour at the time) even though we had an agreement over the funding etc Plus the run is at this time paying for itself and I pushed that his costs be covered before we even start dipping into the trade pool or sharing any profit lol
Final scene weeks later, I am at work at a remote location with terrible phone signal. Mars has tried to call me quite a few times and when I can't hear him or connect properly he explodes!!! Accusing me of using him, playing games and buying my own toys and letting him do all the work and pay all the costs.
Needless to say I tried to explain I wasn't playing a game or being silly but Marcel was so paranoid and angry about his unresolved (and to that point) unspoken issues with me I couldn't even talk sense to him. The relationship degenerated to the point he started threatening me and stated that he was going to the mods and that I was a thief. Stealing his work. I was incredulous and actually quite hurt by his behaviour which continued to get worse and worse.
From that point I publically severed our relationship and our so called friendship. Sad but true. I also stated he couldn't use any of my work outside the original run. I was pretty angry at this stage.
Since then Ive been through various pm wars with Marcel. At one point I was even at risk of being banned until it was shown through a third party that Marcel did in fact release any claim to any "possible" work he contributed irrespective of "ownership."
In our original agreement I was promised my own copy of a BoS from Marcel during our run. I never got this. He said I would have to "buy" one. I also sent him a lot of inserts from various sources which he borrowed but has kept. I write that off to his payback mentality.
Since I never even got a copy of my own work my friend Sarednab and I decided to work together and create an even better, more accurate version. Needless to say he started to get the end of the boot from Marcel as well when this became public.
I will say it finally and publically now. I wrote the BoS.
He would continually tell me he would write something but in the end never produced anything useable as he was too busy with the "cover" or work. Which I was cool with. He even approached various folk to write his contribution for him to no success. I ended up writing the few entries he committed himself to write. I was the writer he was the launchpad.
I certainly compliment him on his work ethic for what he did do and his willingness to take a gamble on my skill as an amateur author. Our friendship didn't survive this project.
The only reason he had a leg to stand on in all this is because I was nice enough to compliment him as a full partner in threads.
When it comes right down to it, I learnt a lot dealing with Mars.
But my relationship on this with Sarednab is both fair and equitable. As soon as he finished his work on our digital files he sent me a full copy. He is honest and transparent. Even though I feel I wrote the BOS (because I did) and included Marsattack in the credit it seems he has just as much right to claim ownership of making a BOS I guess...But that other side though is that he gave permission for anything that "may" have been his to be used. Story over. The he said she said debate is therefore over who did what is really moot.
Funnily enough, after I told him to stop writing me insulting pm's and emails later on down the track he contacted me to purchase a HIC from me. Go figure lol
I know you have a different take on things Marcel, but this is how "I" really think things went and no amount of your browbeating and bullying is going to change that. Leave other people alone and stop sending PM's, leave people alone, especially those who have purchased the BOS.
You need to move on Marcel. Insulting and accusing us isn't going to win your battle. The war is over.
