Samurai/Big Red question

I've always loved the Big Red pred from BDE. Looking at the pictures I can find online, It looks like parts of his costume are from other pred styles. For example, his half chest armor looks like red AVP armor...am I right? If so, then what parts would you need to complete this suit? I realize some things are custom...the belt etc., looks original, but are the gaunts etc from other pred styles?

Thanks for the info and the pics. For some reason I thought theyed used AVP style chest armor.
