This arrived in the mail yesterday (got it through eBay):

It's the Inter Solar System Cargo Vehicle (ISSCV) from "Space: Above and Beyond", put out by Larson Designs, as seen at the following link:

Kit ALERT!!! SAAB 1:72 Space Cargo Ship - ISSCV

As stated above (and shown in the second pic), it's 1:72 scale, measuring 8" in length when fully assembled.

It's a great-looking little model, and only the second model of its type that I've seen, the first having been done by ACME Models.

Considering its size, it's got a lot of detail. The only thing I have an "issue" with is the overall size.

What can I say? I like my models big  lol

As such, I'm now contemplating scratch-building a larger version of this, probably using this model as a study piece for that build.

Have to find some more information on the ISSCV (ie. how large it was compared to the Hammerhead Fighter from the same show) before tackling that project, though.

Nice one! the ISSCV is my favourite vehicle form SAAB. True the Hammerhead is a neat design but I still like the ISSCV. I had one but due to lack of space it was sold to a good home.

I pretty much like both the Hammerhead and ISSCV equally, but you see so few of this one around.

Btw, how big was the one you had you had to let it go?

The way you mentioned "due to lack of space" makes it sound like it was as big as the Titanic or something, lol.

I had the ACME 360 one and when I say "lack of space" what I really meant was "Aww come on honey let me have another shelf on the bookcase" I ran out of room for newer models.

Ah, okay. I've only seen pics of the ACME version on their website. I know they state it as being 1:60 scale, but how long is it? And how was it for detail, compared to this one? :confused

Although I know I shouldn't be even thinking about doing anything with this yet before I finish my TOS Shuttlecraft, I couldn't help but start drawing up a set of blueprints, lol:

(both side profiles have been done; this is just a rough draft)

(size comparison to the 8" kit I recently got, to give you an idea of the scale)

(almost done the dorsal, or top, view; also just a rough draft)

Still got a way's to go with these, as there are some details that need a little tweaking, but you get the general idea. The amount of details on this one will be much more than any other, and be accurate to the CG model, not the conceptual design/blueprints.

I really do have to finish that Shuttlecraft first, though (don't want to take on too many projects at once) lol

Oh boy you're asking something now :) I was years ago I do remember it was a decent size and the detail was okay. I understand the model has been re-tooled now and has much better detail. Comparing photos it looks like yours has better detail.

I keep looking at the Chig fighter on the site but I have too many projects on the go to even consider buying another kit.

I'd heard the same, that they'd retooled their ISSCV kit. It would be interesting to see how theirs and mine (once completed) would compare to one another.

One I'd love to get my hands on is their Saratoga kit, but as I'm kinda in between jobs at the moment money's tight, so that's an expense I simply can't justify at this point in time.

Btw, here's my most recent progress on the blueprints (keep in mind these are just rough drafts):

Still have to figure out a few things (ie. rear thruster details, proper placement of dorsal weapons turret), but it's coming along pretty well, imho.

I should be getting back to the Shuttlecraft now though, lol.
