So I'm in love with that jacket! I can't get any screen grabs right now but what is that jacket?
Also, when he steps over the tripwire we get a great shot of the boots that are also awesome.

Just getting the thread going, I'll post screen grabs when I can get to my computer.

    Nick.

Coat isn't accurate. The shearling is not black. There also is no strap around the middle. The back is completely wrong. :(

I love waking up to find activity on a thread!

The jacket seems to be strangely asymmetrical.

What an awesome silhouette he has!

Great work on finding the boots so quick too!

The boots come in two different heights, 6 and 8 inch, not sure which is the correct model.

Also, the jacket isn't made of leather, but of fabric.

At first glance it looked like a really soft leather, like suede or something but now you've said that I concur.

I can't stop watching this trailer, this is going to be a special movie I think!

After looking back through the whole boot thing have found a lot of places that are flogging rubbish coats and boots and claiming its the same stuff RG wears. Not so.

Keep your powder dry for some more solid info to get out. I found the boots straight away but made a rookie error not knowing they came in two models. It wasnt till around 2004 that Gee Dub identified the original addidas officials online, took a while but got it right first time.

Magnoli Clothiers have their EXCELLENT jacket reproduction on their site now.
So tempted but I don't think I'd ever actually wear it...

Asymmetrical for sure (collar). Don't forget, Gosling has a tendency to work closely with the costume designer/dept. in his movies; always choosing unique stuff, hard to find vintage and the likes. It'll be difficult to find the coat (or any other items).

Thinking of ordering the coat from magnoli as it is the best out there currently but what colour should I choose charcoal, dark green or dark brown? Also what colour would you say the jeans are k wears?

I'd go dark green, maybe not accurate but it would look amazing.

    newbie here.. hello everyone..

The jacket is asymmetrical because the left side will wrap over the right, giving the wearer more warmth. I suspect there are internal buttons/zippers/whatever to keep it wrapped.. I want one.

After seeing Magnoli's version of the coat and learning that it's made of waxed cotton and not leather like I had thought, I'm feeling rather tempted to try cosplaying him in the future, at least assuming I like the movie and the character. Waxed cotton will be much easier to sew with, although I'll still have to learn to work with faux fur/shearling.

some new pics out.... you can get a glance of the boots. Attached is the link as well. Not sure if this will help much on the 8" vs 6" style of boots. In the pic of Gosling sitting, his pants are riding up and they do look rather tall. Reviews on Amazon aren't that great... most say they fall apart after heavy use, even the positive reviews aren't great. That's sad, nice looking boots.

Local replica-clothing superstar Magnoli Clothiers has a version for sale; there's also an upcoming Project Run in the RPF's Junkyard if you want another option.

This is a good call. Is there a zipper in the middle of the lapel that is closed on one side and open on the other? I'm not sure the magnoli captures this. . .

The collar has a buckle and strap... we're revising our collar right now to be screen accurate.

I've rarely seen him with his coat off. Here's two pics I found. The black long sleeve shirt seems to have ribbing? or a horizontal design?
Is he wearing suspenders or is that part of his holster rig?

good pics, looks to be a knit or weave

edit just found a high res you can see the texture of the knit

H and M has tons of cheap textured knits that can be used lol. they seem to do a lot of dystopian style clothing

I wonder if anyone else is like me in that, I’m not a cosplayer - even a little bit. I just like to take elements from cool character designs and work them into my every day attire.

I would argue this is the ultimate cosplay, not "I'm not a cosplayer - even a little bit". To work it into every day attire kinda trumps putting it on for just a con or two...

I like the first H&M shown, but something is pulling at me about how the ribbing and shoulder seams look in the shot of him leaned back on the couch... Almost looks like it's intentionally turned inside out.

I have a question for the group. I apologize if someone covered this already. On the cover of the October issue of WIRED magazine, you see Gosling wearing what I think is a DIFFERENT coat. And I think I like this jacket better (don't judge me!:)) Anyway, am I right? Is this coat different? And if it IS a different coat, what is it called? And where can it be found for purchase? Thanks, guys, for any help you can give me. Wired-USA-October-2017-754x1024.jpg Alan

That’d just be for that photo shoot. Looks like a wool trench coat, like Sherlock wears, over a leather biker jacket.

Yes, that's just for the photo shoot, as well as the props used for that particular article (Steam Punk V.K. for example).:) And Simply Tim: you're onto something about the sweater being upside down;)

I saw that in an interview with him and Harrison and I got sooo jealous.

I am a cosplayer, but I like to do that sort of thing too. One of the main things that influences which characters I choose to cosplay is how many pieces of their outfits I could incorporate into my everyday wardrobe. I'm even toying with the idea of adapting Ryan's coat in the movie into a more toned-down design that I could use as a regular coat.

Same here, man. It’s a bit out-there for a regular coat - how would you tone it down? Shorter?
