The spider is a screen seen/used original, the pistol is something I commissioned to be built by a fellow RPF'r.

Those were self-propelled tracking/heat seeking bullets fired from a gun. Interestingly, the military is developing just such a "bullet".

every time i see a new flying little gadget i think of this film. at the time it was a "yeah right!" but now it seems doable .

Personally, I like to watch Runaway as a suedo-prequel to Blade Runner. The idea of cops hunting robots is just so damn cool.
