RS Prop Masters Scout Trooper

Hi guys so I wanted to get some of your guys opinions on RS helmets I am somewhat new to starting to collect higher end star wars items thus getting familiar with the poular names such as RS and EFX.

No my questions is how accurate are RS helmets?

I was searching his website and came across 2 I really like, pre order scout trooper and ROTJ boba fett helmet.

http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/dickey-beer-signature-edition-biker-scout-helmet-pre-order-2/

http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/boba-fett-helmet-fully-finished/

Now the prices on them are actual cheap based on what some fan made replicas seem to sell on eBay thus question quality and accuracy.

If anyone here has purchased some of his helmets in the passed it would be great to hear what you have to say on his products.

Thanks guys.

I don't know about the Boba Fett, but I have two stormtrooper helmets and a full set of ST armor and they are great. I have a scout on pre-order, but have yet to receive it.

I have a scout on order too. Voice in the Crowd is well up on these after four visits to RS, but from what I can gather they will be as accurate as is possible having been cast from a production made original using accurate materials. The RS guys even had the plastic custom made to match the vintage stuff rather than use anything off the shelf.

yea i did not realize until now that the release date was suppose to be on may 4th of this year. I was trying to pre order yesterday but got a error saying that there were no shipping options to here in the states so sent over a email about this and this is what I got back

"Hi

New orders for the Biker helmet will now be after Christmas, shipping would be £25, the website needs updating i will get the guys to have a look.

Thanks Andrea. "

no maybe these new orders will include the pending pre orders you guys have now, if so that kinda sucks to wait all that time, have they at least sent you any updates on ETA or is this kinda of a EFX situation where they dont seem to update anyone?

In early July I was told: "I will update you as your helmet nears completion in the coming days" - then silence.

More than three weeks ago they said on FB: "So, we are having a huge push to clear this project up this week. Please stay tuned for more exciting info this week." - then nothing.

Preorders were supposed to start shipping in early September and early October - again nothing. I'm fully paid since April based on the assumption they'd be going out in May.

Hi yes I have popped into RS from time to time over the last 4 years. They are really good guys who are real Star Wars fans who strive for accuracy. I understand from posts here they aren't doing great with their communication at the moment which isn't great but am I right in thinking they are starting to ship their first batches of Scouts out just now?

I have been in once when the Scout helmet had just arrived from the Propstore. I think my visit was in March and unfortunately it was a fleeting visit as I was meeting a prop collector in the area.

At the time RS were moulding the scout helmet and had sourced materials to make sure there was virtually no shrinkage. They had taken some test pulls and honestly under scrutiny looking from the outside I could not tell the difference between test pulls and production made. From the inside you could tell the difference due to the type of plastic (the originals are pinseal right?).

They did say that they were getting the correct style plastic made - so it would be as accurate as they could possibly get.

Basically RS are all about accuracy when it comes to replicas and they make the extra effort to cater for this market.

I am absolutely sure they could have churned out all their helmets by now if they had compromised on accuracy but they haven't.

I took a pile of photos of the production made helmet when it was disassembled but unfortunately never paid too much attention to the moulds or test pulls - sorry :(

I have an eFX on order just now and am definitely looking forward to getting it. I will possibly look to an RS in the future once the backlog has subsided.

Thanks for your input guys I cant wait to pre order mine.

Now the thing that I find odd is that if RS helmets are high up there in accuracy is there a reason why it is about half the price of the EFX scout trooper one? I think EFX is $800 no?

or is thing kinda like apple vs Android? where to me android is better and cheaper where apple isn't as well and you are pretty much just paying for the brand name and popularity?

They cater for very different markets.

eFX are licensed company who cater for accuracy and the mass market of Star Wars collectors.

RS cater for a smaller - accuracy obsessed clinically insane market ;)

I would doubt the majority of eFX customers frequent forums like therpf but I would think most RS customers would be on therpf.

Just remember the majority of SW fans don't want screen accuracy they want something glossy and sanitised that looks cool.

Just my opinion of course.
